Silver Squeezes with Aces

Nível 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Georgios Sotiropoulos opened the hijack to 80,000 with {Q-Spades}{8-Spades} and was met with a call from Ka Kwan Lau on the button who held {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. The small blind folded but Max Silver in the big blind wasn't. With {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} in hand he made it 265,000 to go.

Another big hand but yet again no big pot. Both players folded and they went on to hand number six of the day.

Kings, Kings, Kings

Nível 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

We've seen four hands today and in three of them a player had been dealt pocket kings. In the first hand they were laid down, incorrectly we might add. In the other hands they did win the pot but we didn't see a flop in any of them. Pretty good starting hands so far, no big clashes yet.

First Pot to Track

Nível 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

The button was in seat one with Jorma Nuutinen, on the first hand of the final table the action started with Julian Track raising to 120,000 with {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} from under-the-gun+2, next to act Ka Kwan Lau three-bet to 335,000 with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} and Track made the call.

On the {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop Lau bet 250,000 and Track check-called. The {9-Diamonds} hit the turn, Track checked again as did Lau. On the {2-Diamonds} river Track bet 225,000, "he's made a really small bet on the river," said Joe Stapleton. "It's a really confusing bet," he added. After Lau tanked for a while Stapleton said, "I don't think Lau has a diamond here as I think he has to call with any diamond. Maybe he's contemplating a hero call."

Eventually Lau laid his hand down and Track took the pot.

Julian Track Leads the PokerStars.net EPT Prague Main Event Final Table

Julian Track
Julian Track

At 12:00 local time (CET) the final table of the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour Main Event will begin. The live stream will begin an hour later at 13:00 local time with cards up coverage. PokerNews coverage will be on the live streamed action to not spoiler the outcome.

Eight players remain from the enormous field of 1,007 runners. The biggest ever EPT in Prague means the biggest ever first prize is going to be awarded today; a staggering €889,000 is awaiting the winner.

The final table has some well known names on it. Many (British) fans will be on the stands for Max Silver. Silver already has an UKIPT and several EPT Side Events titles under his belt, but an EPT crown is still missing in his trophy room. Stephen Chidwick, also from the UK, will be contending Silver's domination. Known online as "stevie444", Chidwick already made a final table here in Prague. He finished third in the Eureka Poker Tour Main Event but now has his eyes set on the real deal.

If you've been watching the live stream here on PokerNews.com you'll recognize all of the players as they've all been already featured on the live streamed table. But even if you haven't watched a second of poker this week yet, there's one more name you'll surely recognize. Ole Schemion is at it again, the German GPI Player of the Year is determined to take this one down. And if a guy like Schemion has set his mind to something, you better watch out if you're competing with him.

Chip leader coming in is another German player: Julian Track. Julian is a mature student at university in Giessen, studying politics, media and sport. He plays online regularly in $1/$2 PLO cash games on PokerStars. He satellited in via PokerStars and has no live results yet. He's about to hit it big though, he's already guaranteed €84,600!

Seat 1: Jorma Nuutinen, 29, Tampere , Finland - 975,000

Jorma Nuutinen
Jorma Nuutinen

Nuutinen hails from Tampere, the second biggest city in Finland, and considers himself “almost” a professional poker player. He has a job and he says he works there "sometimes" but he earns a good living from poker.

Nuutinen’s best live cash so far was in the 2009 Midnight Sun Main Event in Helsinki where he finished third for €66,833. Last year he finished tenth in the EPT Prague Main Event for €53,000 ... this year he has already cashed in the Eureka High Roller, making the final and finishing fifth for €45,500. He also won the €1,000 Heads-Up event at EPT9 Barcelona for €22,500. Reaching this year’s final brings his live tournament winnings to more than $400,000.

Seat 2: Stephen Chidwick 24, Deal in Kent, United Kingdom - PokerStars qualifier - 4,935,000

Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

It has been some week for Chidwick. Last Thursday he finished third in the Eureka Poker Tour main event, ahead of what proved the tour’s biggest ever field of 1,315 players. Now less than a week later, he is third in chips going into the EPT main event.

It comes at the end of a good year for Chidwick, during which he reached WSOP final tables in Las Vegas and Paris, clocking up $665,000 in live winnings in 2013 alone. Added to this was his continued online success as “stevie444” with a Badugi bracelet in WCOOP last September. His deep run in the Eureka Main Event meant he couldn’t even pick up his bracelet in person as the WCOOP ceremony was held at the EPT Prague Poker Festival party.

Despite success around the world and online, with live tournament winnings in excess of $1.5 million, this will be Chidwick’s first EPT final table appearance.

Seat 3: Ole Schemion, 21, Berlin, Germany - PokerStars qualifier - 2,400,000

Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

Ole Schemion is capping off an incredible 2013 with this EPT Prague final table. The German wunderkind, who plays online under the name “wizowizo”, has racked up more than $1.3m in live tournament cashes already and is likely to add a significant chunk more tomorrow. Schemion started the year with a fourth-place finish in the PCA High Roller for $354,860. Other highlights include winning three side events at the EPT Grand Final for €187,000, as well as cashing in all three major tournaments at EPT Barcelona for another €260,000. Given his big money consistency it’s perhaps little surprise that Schemion has managed to pip Daniel Negreanu to the GPI Player of the Race – what is surprising is that it’s without being old enough to play the WSOP.
