Another day is in the books here at Champions Club in Houston, Texas as Day 1e of the WPO Main Event: $1,500 Main Event has come to a close. This flight produced a whopping 314 entries and with 81 entries in Day 1f Turbo, the $1 Million Guarantee has officially been hit with Day 1g Turbo still to go tomorrow at 8 a.m.!

With this amount of entries, 38 players found a bag tonight, with Brant Jolly leading the way with an impressive stack of 1,300,000 that currently puts him in 2nd overall behind Kassim 'KC' Panjwani with 1,318,000. In second place tonight is Andrew Tran of Austin who bagged 1,129,000 and in third is H Borovetz with 1,120,000. Rounding out the top five is Rakan Abusaleh in fourth with 962,000 and John Ross in fifth with 950,000.

Unlike previous flights where there were only one or two tables in the early levels, Day 1e started off with a bang as over 35 players locked and loaded before the cards were in the air. This surge turned into a massive wave of players entering throughout the day, with the 200 mark being hit by 3:00 p.m.!

Although there was no shortage of action, it seemed to take a while before any players started pulling away from the pack. The first player to reach 300,000 was Elvin Simpson by the second break who then held onto the lead for the remainder of the day until he took a big hit from Abusaleh when his set fell to a turned straight on the bubble. Around the same time on a neighboring table, Borovetz scooped a massive pot with kings against the top pair top-kicker of Son Nguyen to break the million-chip mark. Jolly ended up making his run late in the tournament as well when he shoved all in on the river against Andy Dennis in a big pot. Dennis wound up making the fold but Jolly showed him a stone bluff to score the pot and he used that momentum to climb his way to the top of the counts.

As this is the sixth of seven starting flights, there is only tomorrow’s Day 1g Turbo flight that remains and it kicks off at 8 a.m.

Day 2 kicks off at 3 p.m. local time and the full seat draw and chip counts will be posted once Day 1f &1g finishes so be on the lookout on PokerNews!

Rios Eliminates Kemper to End Day 1e

Nível 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

After doubling up the previous hand with king-eight against the pocket fives of Jake White, Drake Kemper got it all in once again on the stone bubble...

"You never feel more alive than when you are close to death!" Kemper said as the action folded to Eloy Rios.

"I call," Rios announced to put Kemper at risk, and once the tournament director gav them the green light, the cards were on their backs.

Drake Kemper: QQAll in
Eloy Rios: AK

"Wow! Classic!" the table said almost in unison as the two players held the most ultimate, classic, made-for-TV-hand in the book, on the stone bubble.

The flop of 256 was clean for Kemper, but the K smacked down on the turn to give Rios the lead and the river was the brick 3 to send Kemper out in brutal fashion.

Abusaleh Scores Huge Double on Money Bubble

Nível 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

On a heads-up turn of Q3108, Elvin Simpson led for 60,000 but then Rakan Abusaleh responded by ripping it all in for 430,000.

After over two minutes in the tank, Simpson finally announced a call and the hands were tabled, with Abusaleh at risk on the money bubble.

Rakan Abusaleh: J9All in
Elvin Simpson: 88

"Oh my god he has a set, he has equity!" Abusaleh said as he stood up to sweat the river, but he breathed a big sigh of relief when the river was the brick K to secure him the pot for the huge double.

Jolly Makes the Call to KO Raus

Nível 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

The action preflop folded around to Eric Raus in the small blind who moved all in for around 150,000. The action was then on Brant Jolly who thought about it for around thirty seconds before he decided to make the call to put Raus at risk on the soft bubble.

Eric Raus: 88All in
Brant Jolly: Q9

Raus was in the lead with his pocket eights, but the flop of 942 gave Jolly the upper hand with a pair of nines and the runout of 75 sent Raus to the rail.
