Dietrich Survives One of Australia's Best

Nível 5 : 400/800, 100 ante

After the under-the-gun player opened for 1,800 and Jonathan Karamalikis three-bet to 4,500, Moritz Dietrich four-bet all in from the big blind for 11,925 total. The original raiser folded and Karamalikis called to put Dietrich at risk.

Dietrich: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Karamalikis: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Dietrich was ahead, but Karamalikis was drawing to two live cards. Fortunately for the man from Austria, the {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop paired his ace, and he guaranteed himself the double when the {6-Spades} turn left Karamalikis drawing dead. The meaningless {2-Clubs} was put out on the river for good measure, and then Dietrich was pushed the pot.

Checking It Down

Nível 5 : 400/800, 100 ante

Vladimir Troyanovskiy opened for 1,800 from the hijack and Geoff Mooney called from the cutoff. Martin Jacobson then three-bet to 7,600 from the button, both blinds folded, and Troyanovskiy got out of the way. Mooney opted to call and then action went check-check on the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop.

Action repeated itself on the {J-Diamonds} turn, as well as on the {K-Spades} river. Mooney showed the {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens, and it was good as Jacobson mucked.

Yoon Eliminated

Nível 5 : 400/800, 100 ante

Brian Yoon was down to his last 18,000 and got it in with {10-}{10-} pre flop against the {A-}{A-} of Alexander Lynskey after opening and four-bet shoving over Lynskey's three-bet. Yoon failed to improve and hit the rail in the fifth level of the day. He still has some time to re enter, registration closes after level 8.

O'Dwyer Goes to Value Town

Nível 5 : 400/800, 100 ante

In the last hand of Level 4, Steve O'Dwyer, who is sitting on a pile of chips, raised to 1,500 from the cutoff and Sam Higgs defended the big blind. Both players checked the {4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{a-Spades} flop as well as the {J-Spades} turn, and then Higgs checked for a third time on the {A-Diamonds} river.

O'Dwyer bet the minimum, just 600, and Higgs called. O'Dwyer snapped over his cards — the {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} for nut no-pair — and it was good as Higgs just smiled and showed his inferior {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

Aido Scores a Double

Nível 5 : 400/800, 100 ante

As we walked up to the table Sergio Aido was already all in and Christopher Frank was thinking about it. Aido later told us he had three-bet from the big blind and Frank had called from first position. Aido had then fired 4,500 on the {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{J-Clubs} flop, 10,200 on the {4-Diamonds} turn and 36,450 on the {5-Hearts} river. Frank called all streets, but mucked upon seeing Aido's {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

Quoss' Jacks Hold Against Farrell

Nível 4 : 300/600, 75 ante
Fabian Quoss
Fabian Quoss

After a raise to 1,500 it was Fabian Quoss who three-bet from the button to 3,800 and Niall Farrell made it 6,700 from the small blind. The initial raiser folded and Quoss made it 11,500.

Farrell thought for about 20 seconds before moving all in for 30,750 effectively, and Quoss called right away.

Quoss: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Farrell: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades} and Quoss received a full double up.

"It's been a while since I won one of those," Quoss said, before adding, "But to be fair, I haven't played a lot of poker lately."

Dzivielevski Doubles; Jaka Enters

Nível 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

The TV cameras were swarming Table 30, and that's because they were watching Faraz Jaka take his seat in the tournament. As fate would have it, a big hand was taking place at that very table.

We picked up the action with approximately 15,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Mustapha Kanit checked under the gun and Yuri Dzivielevski bet 7,000 from the button. Kanit made the call and then checked the {6-Spades} river. Dzivielevski moved all in for his last 21,800, and Kanit tanked for nearly three minutes before tossing in a call. Dzivielevski tabled the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for top pair, and it was good as Kanit sent his cards to the muck.

Meanwhile, Jason Koon busted the tournament and immediately opted to reenter.

Lynskey's Two Pair Better Than Alner's

Nível 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

On the {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board, Tom Alner bet 4,000 with three players to act behind him. Alexander Lynskey made the call, and then Elliott Smith and David Peters folded.

The river was the {3-Spades}, and Alner bet 10,200. Lynskey wasted little time in making the call, and when he did Alner turned up the {10-Clubs}{9-Spades} for two pair. Lynskey held the {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a better two pair and won the pot.
