We saw Jason Les making his way from the tournament floor, which indicated he had been eliminated from the tournament.
Sure enough, a quick check with Tony Hachem, who had been seated to Les' right, confirmed it.
According to Hachem, Benny Spindler limped from early position and Les moved all in for his last 30,600. Panayotis Flourentzou ended up calling from the hijack seat, and the rest of the players folded, including spindler.
Les tabled , and he had major kicker issues as Flourentzou held . A queen in the window pretty much sealed the deal, and Les' 2015 Aussie Millions Main Event came to an end short of the money.
Garlad Karlic has certainly been making some moves as of late in this event. He recently won a big pot off Phil Ivey, that you can read about by clicking here, and just now he scooped another nice one from Julius Colman.
Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading , Colman checked, and Karlic bet 29,000. Colman made the call, and the river was the . After Colman checked, Karlic bet 68,500. Colman instantly made the call, but just as quickly mucked his cards after Karlic tabled the .
After all was said and done, Karlic increased to 666,000 in chips, whereas Colman dropped back to 102,000.
"The chips went in gradually," Billy "The Croc" Argyros informed us after we arrived to Table 11 following Brayden Jinks' elimination.
From what we could piece together, Jinks shoved his remaining stack on the river with a board reading . The defending champ, Ami Barer, called him with the , which bested the of Jinks. Chalk another knockout to the Canadian.
Rahul Byrraju has doubled Brian Rast up to 262,000 but he's still sitting pretty on 370,000.
The hand waited until the turn before the fireworks went off. The board read and Rast was put to a decision for his remaining 95,000. He called pretty quickly with for two pair and flush draw, ahead of Byrraju's . The river came as the and Rast was all smiles.
We missed the elimination of poker pro Jarred Graham, but we do know he fell after his pocket aces were cracked by pocket tens. The chips went in preflop, but Graham's opponent spiked a Broadway straight on the river to put an end to Graham's day.
Meanwhile, Joakim Backlund and Ismael Bojang have also been eliminated from the Main Event.
Jake Balsiger, who finished third in this very event last year, began the day on a short stack of 35,400. The former World Series of Poker October Niner managed to run that up to a formidable stack, but his comeback came crashing down courtesy of Singapore's Don Mishra.
There was around 90,000 already in the pot and a board reading when a back-and-forth raising war resulted in Balsiger getting his last 100,000 or so all in and being called by Mishra.
Mishra:
Balsiger:
Balsiger held top pair top kicker, but he was drawing dead as Mishra had flopped a set. The meaningless was put out on the river for good measure, and Balsiger wished the table luck before taking his leave. There will be no back-to-back cashes for Jakey.
Meanwhile, Quoc Nguyen was also eliminated from the tournament.
James Rann admitted he "Ran like God!" on Day 2 to ten times his stack on the day, and he was just sat shaking his head in disbelief as his run-good continued today to eliminate Kodie Drew.
The two players were in the blinds and all the chips went in preflop, Drew holding a short stack at the time.
Tony Bloom, who won this event back in 2004, shoved his last 28,700 all in from middle position and received a call from Alexander Lynskey in the cutoff. The button and blinds all folded and Bloom discovered the bad news.
Bloom:
Lynskey:
Lynskey had Bloom dominated, but the flop proved kind to the former champ by pairing his kicked. Neither the turn nor river helped Lynskey, and he sent some chips over to Bloom.
It looks like the previous hand where Bloom tried to move all in but didn't do it properly may be a blessing in disguise.
