The next live poker operator to continue its efforts after the hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is 888poker. With its popular 888poker LIVE tour, the brand is returning to Casino Barcelona and for the fourth time and more than one dozen tournaments are part of the festival. Most certainly the marquee event of the entire stop is the €1,100 Main Event, which comes with its usual deep structure on Day 1.
In 2022, 888poker LIVE already hosted three stops at The Vic in London and one of them included the 888Live London Festival £888 Main Event. Out of a field of 642 entries, the UK's Bhavin Khatri prevailed to claim the top prize of £126,340 and lift the winner's trophy of the tour for the first time in more than two years.
For the stop in Barcelona, a total of four starting days await with three regular flights and a turbo heat. All regular starting days feature 10 levels of 45 minutes each while the final turbo heat contains a level duration of 20 minutes each ahead of the Day 2 restart on Sunday, May 22. The action for Day 1a is expected to conclude around 3 am local time.
All players receive 30,000 in chips and unlimited re-entries are available throughout the entire registration period. Players can enter and re-enter for the first 14 levels and following break, two levels into Day 2. A 30-second shot clock is in play right from the start and until a winner is crowned.

The 888poker LIVE tour headed to Barcelona for the first time in 2017 and Luigi Shehadeh topped a field of 609 entries to win his first major title on the live poker circuit, claiming a payday of €110,000. One year later, Romania's Adrian Constantin cut a heads-up deal with Joel Isla Gonzalo as both walked away with €114,025 and Constantin won the duel for the trophy.
In September 2018, the 888poker-sponsored Circuito Nacional de Poker (CNP) stopped at the venue and Spanish veteran Sergio Alonso Camunas defeated Pete Linton in the €550 Main Event. The last main stop of the tour then unfolded in May 2019 and once again, it was an Italian player who lifted the trophy. Gabriele Rossi walked away with a payday of €110,000 after topping a field of 551 entries.

Whether or not any of the former winners in Barcelona will return to try and earn a second title remains to be seen. The 888poker team will have several brand ambassadors at the venue and the action will also be streamed live on the 888poker social media channels as well.
The PokerNews live reporting team will provide live updates from the first three starting days, Day 2 and the final day before then setting the main focus on the upcoming 2022 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
Today's schedule also featured the conclusion of the €2,200 High Roller, which had attracted a field of 63 entries. Only the top eight finishers earned a portion of the €120,960 prize pool with a min cash of €5,000 reserved for Jordi Escriba Munio. Among those to cash thereafter were Max Avela and Simone Agnolotto, followed by Adria Colomina Guitart.
There was a deal between the final three players in which Markus Hausberger was the first to bow out, leaving the Brits James Crawley-Boevey and Warren Aspey to battle for the victory. The duo battled back and forth and Aspey doubled back into the lead only for Crawley-Boevey to pull ahead again. Ultimately, both flopped a pair of eights but the ace-eight of Crawley-Boevey prevailed against the king-eight of Aspey to win the trophy and top prize of €31,500.

At 5pm, the €5,300 Super High Roller kicked off and among those in contention was also Vivian Saliba. The 888poker ambassador was one of two players to win the seat in a live satellite at Casino Barcelona. Another satellite took place in the main tournament room earlier as well and is still ongoing, which happens to be a €110 qualifier for the €1,100 Main Event. There were 61 entries in total which leaves five seats and

The 888poker ambassador Alexandre "Cavalito" Mantovani was among the first to sit down and came along out of the small blind when facing an open raise to 300 by the player first to act on a short-handed table. Both opted to check the flop and Mantovani then led the turn for 200.
That was enough to drag in the pot as his opponent quickly folded. Mantovani was then also successful with a three-bet from 300 to 1,500 as no further resistance followed.

In a three-bet pot with 1,300 invested by then, Ernst Soderkvist called a bet worth 800 by Manuel Torrents Avalos on the flop and they headed to the turn. Torrents Avalos now bet 1,500 and Soderkvist raised it up to 3,500 and that forced a fold from his opponent.
