At 4pm local time, the 2022 888poker LIVE Barcelona €1,100 Main Event will recommence as all survivors of the four starting stacks return to their seats at Casino Barcelona. While the Formula One race is underway and the sun is shining, it will be all about the poker action in the marquee event of the stop in the Catalan hotbed.
So far, 311 entries have been recorded and 131 players will return to the poker action with a distinct chip leader at the top of the leaderboard. Gabriel Podovei crushed the late stages of Day 1b and will return with 327,500 in chips, good enough for 273 big blinds in the first level at blinds of 600-1,200 and a big blind ante of 1,200.
Second in chips is Alex Baena with 213,300 while Alejandro De Lucio Sanchez follows in third place with 199,100. The trio atop all ended up as the chip leaders on their respective starting days but it will be a long way to turn the decent start into something meaningful.

A whole slate of 888poker ambassadors and streamers will also return to showcase their talents as well. Boxing star Chris Eubank Jr (114,300) leads the way closely followed by Samantha Abernathy (106,800) while Stream Team Member Jordan Banfield is right in the middle of the pack with a stack of 75,600. They are joined by the newest 888poker ambassador Ian Simpson (64,500), Alexandre Mantovani (62,100), Rene Majed (33,200), and Vivian Saliba (23,700).
Other notables in contention include Alin Grasu, Max Avela, Jorge Ufano, Harcharan Dogra Dogra, Filippo Lazzaretto, and Dan Cates to name all but a few.
Three former 888poker LIVE Main Event winners are also back to try and become the first two-time champion of the popular live series as well. Bhavin Khatri comes hot on the heels of his victory in London earlier in 2022 and has 95,400 at his disposal, while Adrian Costin Constantin (63,600) and Adrian Eugen Constantin (27,700) may have a very similar name but are indeed two different players from Romania.

Back in 2017 the 888poker LIVE tour headed to Barcelona for the first time and Luigi Shehadeh came out on top of an 609 entry strong field to claim the top prize of €110,000. In 2018, Adrian Constantin and Joel Isla Gonzalo cut a heads-up deal to secure €114,025 each and Constantin won the following duel for the trophy.
In September of the same year, local live poker veteran Sergio Alonso Camunas won the 888poker-sponsored Circuito Nacional de Poker (CNP) stop at the venue. For his efforts in the €550 Main Event, the Spaniard padded his bankroll with a payday of €70,000. Gabriele Rossi then followed in the footsteps of fellow countryman Shehadeh in 2019 to claim €110,000 after topping a field of 551 entries.

2017 | 609 | €584,640 | Luigi Shehadeh | Italy | €110,000 |
2018 | 709 | €709,000 | Adrian Constantin | Romania | €114,025 |
2019 | 551 | €551,000 | Gabriele Rossi | Italy | €110,000 |
Day 2 is scheduled to play a maximum of ten levels of 60 minutes each with a break every two levels. The late registration and re-entry period concludes after level 12 and following break, after which the live stream action on the 888poker TV YouTube and Twitch channels will also get underway as well.
It is certain that the money bubble will burst and the penultimate tournament day may very well go all the way to the official final table. Stay tuned for the poker action from Barcelona right here on PokerNews!
Almost all qualified players for Day 2 are already in their seats and have unbagged their chips. The entire Cotton Club room as well as nearby tables are used for the restart with the latter ones breaking into Cotton Club, which also hosts the live stream table setup as well.
It is expected that the cards will go in the air shortly.

On the tail end of a medium-sized pot between Harcharan Dogra Dogra in the small blind and Ivan Stokes in an early position, the latter bet more than the pot on the board. Stokes only had some 13,000 behind and folded.
Shortly after, the dealer on the table announced a double seat open and Stokes was among those to depart, as was Guillem Garriga Gairaud with Joel Torres Jimenez raking in a large pot.
