Os rankings do Global Poker Index Player of the Year foram lançados na Quarta com Dan Smith de novo no topo.
As cinco grandes vitórias no circuito de 2012 deram-lhe uma liderança confortável pela sétima semana consecutiva mas ainda estão muitos jogadores a querer tirar-lhe o lugar. Kyle Julius subiu dois lugares para o No. 2 desta semana depois de ter ficado em 14º lugar no World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. Julius ultrapassou Marvin Rettenmaier e Andrew Lichtenberger nos rankings do GPI POY desta semana.
