Moreno Doubles Through Mackelprang

Nível 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Andrew Moreno
Andrew Moreno

According to a player at the table, Dragana Mackelprang opened to 6,000 in the cutoff, Andrew Moreno three-bet to 22,000 in the big blind, and Mackelprang called.

The {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop was checked to the {q-Spades} turn. Moreno bet 34,000, Mackelprang moved all in, and Moreno called for his remaining 63,000 or so.

Andrew Moreno: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Dragana Mackelprang: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

The {a-Spades} hit the river to improve Moreno to a flush and he collected the pot.

Mackelprang doubled on the next hand, but still holds a below-average stack.

Platt's Struggle Ends With Zero Chips

Nível 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jeff Platt
Jeff Platt

Esteemed broadcaster Jeff Platt has had an up-and-down day in his quest to accumulate chips, and his struggle to find a bag today has recently ended.

As recounted by Platt, the button player jammed with a dead small blind, and Platt called all-in for his stack of about 33,000 in the big blind.

Jeff Platt: {k-}{10-}
Button: {q-}{7-}

The {4-}{2-}{2-} flop kept Platt in front, but the {7-} turn left him needing help, and the {2-} completed the board to confirm his elimination.

"Many people were saying that's the greatest call they've ever seen," Platt mentioned as he made his exit from the tournament area.

Although his struggle to add to his stack ends before the day's conclusion, the broadcaster and self-proclaimed "very average poker player" will surely have many more opportunities and struggles in the future.

Cheong Runs Into Foxen's Rockets

Nível 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Joseph Cheong had gotten his 109,000 chips in from the cutoff and was at risk against Kristen Foxen in early position.

Joseph Cheong: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Kristen Foxen: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop and {j-Clubs} turn provided more of a sweat as the table watched in anticipation, but the {3-Diamonds} river bricked out and sent Cheong to the rail, while Foxen added to her stack.

Nussrallah Scores Huge Double Knockout

Nível 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Stephen Nussrallah
Stephen Nussrallah

A player in middle position was all in and had been called by Daniel Rezaei from one seat over. Stephen Nussrallah then re-jammed from the small blind, covering both other players and causing Rezaei to go into the tank. Eventually Rezaei emerged having decided to call to setup the three-way all in.

Middle Position Player: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Daniel Rezaei: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Stephen Nussrallah: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Rezaei was in dire straits while the other two players were locked in what would typically be a flip but with Rezaei holding an ace the middle position player was slightly favoured. The {2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop changed little but the {5-Hearts} turn did give Rezaei life. It was not to be, however, after the {k-Spades} landed on the river, dashing both Rezaei's and the middle position player's hopes of making it to Day 2 while giving an enormous boost to Nussrallah's stack.
