Ben Diebold Wins 2022 Wynn Millions $3,000 NLH $1k Bounty ($96,810 + $14,000 in Bounties)

While the $10,000 buy-in, $10M GTD tournament at the 2022 Wynn Millions wrapped up on Friday, the $3,000 NLH $1k Bounty [$200,000 GTD] was also playing to a winner. The two-day event attracted 200 runners, which resulted in a $350,000 prize pool.

On Day 2, just 23 players returned to action with Ben Diebold leading the way. That meant three would leave empty-handed and the unfortunate trio was Mike Dentale, Vikranth Varma, and Jay Marquez.

Among those to finish in-the-money but fall short of the final table were Ryan Laplante (11th - $7,742), Kristen Nyman (13th - $6,790), David Coleman (18th - $4,862), Matas Cimbolas (19th - $4,862), and Chino Rheem (20th - $4,862).

Michael Lim was the first to fall when his ace-jack failed to get there against the ace-king of Albert Nguyen, who followed him out the door after getting picked off by Daniel Couzens, who hit a heater by winning a race with queens against Big Slick to dispatch Salim Admon in seventh.

Adam Hendrix then exited in sixth place after his ace-jack failed to outdraw the ace-queen of Diebold, and then 2017 WSOP bracelet winner Anthony Marquez fell after jamming with a straight draw and failing to get there against pocket queens.

India’s Ankit Ahuja then grew short before busting in fourth place, while Couzens hot streak cooled hard and fast after getting it in twice against Diebold only to be barely pipped both times. In the second, Couzens lost with ace-jack to ace-queen despite flopping a pair and flush draw (an offsuit queen spiked on the turn).

Diebold and Uri Kadosh began heads-up play nearly even in chips but a cooler saw the former double with aces against nines. Not long after, Diebold collected the final $1,000 chip, which was his 14th of the tournament.

Uri Kadosh Eliminated in 2nd Place ($58,135)

Uri Kadosh
Uri Kadosh

Level 25 (25,000/50,000/50,000)

Uri Kadosh raised from the button only to have Ben Diebold three-bet it. Kadosh responded by moving all in and Diebold snap-called off for 2.86 million.

Ben Diebold: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Uri Kadosh: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

It was a cooler and Kadosh was left with just 275,000 after the board ran out {8-Hearts}{q-Spades}{a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

Kadosh managed a couple of doubles before the final hand of the tournament took place. It happened when he shoved for 725,000 from the button with the {q-Clubs}{j-Spades} and Diebold called holding the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. The {k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Spades} flop gave Kadosh a gutshot straight draw to go with his two overs, and the {6-Spades} turn added a flush draw to the mix.

Unfortunately for him, the {k-Hearts} river was a brick and he sent his $1,000 bounty over to Diebold to end the tournament.

Stay tuned for a recap of the day's action.

Daniel Couzens Eliminated in 3rd Place ($37,485)

Daniel Couzens
Daniel Couzens

Level 25 (25,000/50,000/50,000)

Daniel Couzens and Ben Diebold just clashed again in an all-in preflop hand. The former got his slightly smaller stack in and found himself pipped once again by Diebold.

Daniel Couzens: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Ben Diebold: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The {j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop seemed like it was gin for Couzens as he not only took the lead with a pair of jacks but also flopped a flush draw.

However, lady luck was not on his side as the dealer burned and turned the {q-Hearts} to give Diebold back the lead. The {9-Spades} river was no help to Couzens and he hit the rail in third place.

That sets up a near-even heads-up match between Diebold and Uri Kadosh.

Superior Ace for Diebold

Level 25 (25,000/50,000/50,000)

Not long after coming back from the dinner break, Ben Diebold got his stack of approximately 800,000 all in and was in great shape to double through Daniel Couzens.

Ben Diebold: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Daniel Couzens: {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Diebold had the superior kicker and he scored the double after the board ran out {3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

Ankit Ahuja Eliminated in 4th Place ($25,690)

Ankit Ahuja
Ankit Ahuja

Level 24 (20,000/40,000/40,000)

It appeared Ankit Ahuja, who was in the small blind, bet both the {q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop and {k-Diamonds} turn, with the latter being an all-in bet. Daniel Couzens was in the under-the-gun position and called to put his short-stacked opponent at risk.

Ankit Ahuja: {6-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Daniel Couzens: {a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

Ahuja was dominated and called for a seven, but it didn't happen as the {j-Clubs} bricked the river instead.

Anthony Marquez Eliminated in 5th Place ($18,918)

Anthony Marquez
Anthony Marquez

Level 23 (15,000/30,000/30,000)

Daniel Couzens raised the button and WSOP bracelet winner Anthony Marquez defended his big blind. When the flop came down {a-}{4-}{5-} rainbow, Marquez moved his short stack all in and Couzens called.

Anthony Marquez: {6-}{7-}
Daniel Couzens: {q-}{q-}

Marquez went with his up-and-down straight draw, but it didn't come in as both the turn and river bricked.

Adam Hendrix
Adam Hendrix

Level 22 (15,000/25,000/25,000)

Adam Hendrix got his short stack of approximately 400,000 all in preflop and was looking to get lucky against Ben Diebold.

Adam Hendrix: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Ben Diebold: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Hendrix had a kicker problem but it didn't get resolved as the board ran out {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

Salim Admon Eliminated in 7th Place ($12,257)

Salim Admon
Salim Admon

Level 22 (15,000/25,000/25,000)

Salim Admon was all in preflop and racing for his tournament life against Daniel Couzens.

Salim Admon: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Daniel Couzens: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

It was a classic flip and Admon was looking to improve to stay alive. Unfortunately for him, that didn't happen as the board ran out {4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

With that, the 2021 Wynn Millions fourth-place finisher bowed out of the $3K NLH Bounty in seventh place.
