Alex Peffly open-jammed for 97,000 chips from under the gun and the action folded to Vittorio Maugini in the hijack, who put in a three-bet to 175,000. The rest of the table folded, leading to a showdown.
Alex Peffly: Q♠Q♥
Vittorio Maugini: A♥A♦
Peffly's tablemates were rooting for some spades to appear, but none came on the 3♣4♣3♥ flop. The 9♠8♠ did not help the Brit either, and he was the latest to be eliminated from the Main Event.
Hacine Chatteur tossed in a T-25,000 chip from the button for a raise before Olekssi Kovalchuk three-bet jammed his final 85,000 in from the small blind. Chatteur took a while but eventually called.
Oleksii Kovalchuk: A♦K♦
Hacine Chatteur: A♥5♥
Kovalchuk got his phone out to film the affair, but little did he know he would end up filming his demise. The 5♦3♥10♠ paired Chatteur up, and he would remain the only player doing so when the board ran out 4♥J♣.
Kovalchuk took his bad beat in good spirits and wished everyone good luck before leaving the table.
Adel Boulhadid raised to 17,000 under the gun before Daniel Dvoress three-bet to 120,000 in middle position. Stefan Heizmann then moved all in for 211,000 and Boulhadid tanked for a moment before folding. Dvoress also considered the decision for a minute but he called to put Heizmann at risk.
Stefan Heizmann: 10♥10♣
Daniel Dvoress: A♣K♥
The other players at the table expressed shock at the strength of Dvoress' hand after he took so long to call. Heizmann stood up from his seat and watched as the A♦J♣6♣ flop gave Dvoress top pair.
The board ran out A♠6♥ and Dvoress finished with a full house to send Heizmann to the rail.
At the same time on another table, Davide Suriano and Keneshka Kabir were heads-up on a board of 10♥5♦7♠A♥K♦ when Suriano bet 27,000 from middle position.
Kabir then raised to 100,000 in the cutoff, sending Suriano deep into the tank. Several minutes elapsed into break as Suriano continued to think about the decision.
"Ace-ten," he asked Kabir.
"No. All I want is a drink, so two minutes is enough," Kabir replied. Suriano eventually called and Kabir turned over K♥10♠ for two pair. Suriano angrily flung his cards away as the start-of-day chip leader took the pot.
Stephen Chidwick got it in post flop with 7♥7♣ for a set on the 8♥7♦5♠10♦A♣ and held on to the double through Thore-Fabian Kunze, who held an overpair on the flop and turn with the J♠J♥ but missed to dispatch the dangerous Brit.
At the same time one table over, Felipe Ketzer raised to 16,000 and Marius Gicovanu three-bet to 55,000. Ketzer pushed all-in and Gicovanu beat him into the pot.
Felipe Ketzer: 9♥9♠
Marius Gicovanu: K♣K♦
There was no help for Ketzer on the J♦8♥8♠2♦4♥ runout and both stacks were counted. Ketzer's 332,000 were covered by the 363,000 of Gicovanu and the Brazilian was knocked out.
Ermanno Di Nicola opened to 17,000 from the hijack and Adrian Mateos made the call on the button. Robert Bickley then defended his big blind to see the 2♣5♠J♠ flop.
Bickley checked to Di Nicola, who continued for 34,000. Mateos called while Bickley got out of the way. Both players then checked the 3♣ turn.
Di Nicola led out for 80,000 on the Q♣ river and Mateos took some time before raising enough to put his opponent all in. Now it was Di Nicola's turn in the tank, and he eventually decided on a call.
Mateos announced "flush" as he showed his 5♣4♣, while Di Nicola tabled K♠K♥ to end his run just before break.
Theodore McQuilkin raised and earned a caller in Borys Rozhanovskyi out of the big blind. On a Q♠8♥5♦ flop, Rozhanovskyi check-raised a bet worth 16,000 and then called the shove by McQuilkin.
Theodore McQuilkin: K♦K♥
Borys Rozhanovskyi: Q♥8♦
The French WSOPE bracelet winner needed a king or the board to pair, neither of which came on the J♦ turn and [4s6 river.
Alexander Dovzhenko led out for 30,000 in the big blind on a flop of Q♥7♥Q♠ before Michael Rocco raised to 75,000 in middle position.
Dovzhenko reraised to 105,000 and Rocco quickly called. Both players then checked the A♠ turn.
The river was the 9♠ and Dovzhenko moved all in for around 150,000. Rocco practically beat him into the pot and turned over Q♣9♦ for a rivered full house. Dovzhenko tossed Q♦10♥ into the muck as he headed for the rail.
"I thought he had nothing," Rocco said as he stacked up the big pot.
Fausto Tantillo got through with a three-bet shove against Max Neugebauer and then opened to 16,000 from under the gun soon after. Hugo Machado three-bet to 44,000 one seat over and it folded all the way back to the Italian. He took around one minute to declare all-in and Machado instantly called.
Fausto Tantillo: J♣J♥
Hugo Machado: A♣K♠
Tantillo once again vaulted out of his chair to film the all-in showdown with his phone. He stayed ahead on the 9♦8♦7♦ flop but Machado took the lead on the A♠ turn. Tantillo asked for a ten but the Q♦ river ended his run in the first level on Day 3.
Vito Vella raised from under the gun to 16,000 chips and Stanislaw Miadzel called from the button. Ceyhan Berand then jammed in his last 50,000 or so chips in from the big blind.
Vella four-bet all in himself, covering Miadzel's stack. Miadzel pondered for a while before laying his hand down, forcing a showdown between the other two players.
Ceyhan Berand: 5♦4♣
Vito Vella: A♦Q♣
Berand took the lead on J♦10♥4♥, and the 4♦ turn saw him increase that by hitting three of a kind. However, Vella's Broadway draw came in on the K♠ river, and the straight was the last hand Berand would lose to, as it resulted in his elimination from the Main Event.
Heads-up on a board of 5♣7♠2♠8♣, Andrei Spataru bet 45,000 from the big blind before Pawel Zawadowicz moved all in from the cutoff. Spataru called for his last 110,000.
Zawadowicz showed A♠8♦ for top pair, while Spataru had 10♣9♣ for flush and straight draws. The K♦ river completely missed Spataru and he was sent to the rail.
