Event #13: €2,500 Short Deck No-Limit Hold'em

Dia 1 Iniciado

Welcome to Event #13: €2,500 Short Deck No-Limit Hold'em

WSOPE Bracelet
WSOPE Bracelet

The first day of Event #13: €2,500 Short Deck No-Limit Hold'em at the World Series of Poker Europe gets underway at 4 p.m. local time. There is a €250,000 guarantee in the prize pool. This two-day event is a new addition to the 2019 WSOP Europe schedule. However, this is not the first Short Deck tournament of the series. Just a couple of days ago, Siamak Tooran won Event #6: €25,500 Short Deck High Roller No-Limit Hold'em for €740,996 and his first bracelet after defeating 111 competitors.

Just like in regular Hold'em, the object of short deck Hold'em is to make a better five-card poker hand using any combination of holes cards and community cards than your opponents to win the pot. However, the deck consists of 36 cards instead of 52 as every card deuce through five is removed. An Ace still plays as the highest and lowest card in the rank.

One important difference with regular Hold'em games is that in Short Deck games, flushes beat full houses. This is the hand rankings the WSOPE will use:

Hand Rankings
Royal Flush
Straight Flush
Four of a Kind
Flush
Full House
Straight
Three of a Kind
Two Pair
One Pair
High Card

Players will start with 25,000 in chips and will be allowed a free add-on for another 25,000 at any point until the end of registration. There will also be unlimited re-entry during the registration period, with late registration closing after nine levels, at approximately 10:45 p.m. Levels will be 40 minutes long and Day 1 will play through 14 levels with a 15-minute break every three levels.
The tournament will play six-handed, with each player putting in a single ante, and the player on the button putting in a double ante.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the coverage of this event.

Ogrady Takes From Anselmi

Nível 1 : 0/0, 100 ante

Michael Ogrady raised to 600 in first to act and Federico Anselmi called from the button.

The dealer spread a flop of {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs} that was checked through to the {8-Spades} turn. Ogrady bet 1,500 and Anselmi called.

The {10-Hearts} filled up the board and Ogradi fired 2,900. Anselmi thought for a long while.

"You play Short Deck much?" asked Ogrady. Anselmi nodded.

"You don't need help, you're ok? Just want to make sure..." continued Ogrady.

A few seconds later, Anselmi tossed in chips to call and Ogradi turned over {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for broadway to win the pot and Anselmi mucked.

Nível 1 : 0/0, 100 ante

Oleh Okhotskyi limped in early position and Ming Juen Teoh raised to 1,500 from middle position. Action folded back to Okhotskyi who added the remainder to call.

The flop fell {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and was checked through to the {j-Diamonds} turn. Okhotskyi bet 1,500 and Teoh called. The {9-Spades} filled up the board and both players checked. Okhotskyi tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} for a set of aces and Teoh sent his cards to the muck.
