The first of ten gold bracelet events of the 2018 World Series of Poker Europe at the King's Casino in Rozvadov is off to a good start thanks to 154 entries on the first of eight starting days of Event #1: €550 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold'em. Only 12 players bagged up chips after 18 levels of 30 minutes each while another 12 participants took home a portion of the Day 1A prize pool.
All those that failed to advance to Day 2 can take another shot at the guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000, as Day 1B kicks off at 6 p.m. local time in Europe's biggest poker arena. As usual, the late registration remains open for the first 10 levels until approximately 11.40 p.m. local time and the second flight will conclude upon completion of level 18 in the early morning hours past 4 a.m. local time.
Each participant receives 25,000 in chips to start with and a single re-entry is allowed during the registration period. The chip leader thus far is Poland's Dariusz Glinski, who bagged up impressive 669,000 earlier this morning and Gerrit Muller (544,000) was the only other player to advance with more than half a million in chips.
Among those expected to take another shot at glory are 2018 World Series of Poker Player of the Year contender Shaun Deeb, Chris Ferguson, Jeff Lisandro, Roland Israelashvili, Guoliang Wei, Allen Kessler, Sander van Wesemael and Teunis Kooij.

According to the screens, there are 40 players registered for Day 1B before any cards are dealt and at least another 20 participants will join the mix via the satellite. Initially, there were only 10 tickets worth €550 each guaranteed but that number was doubled thanks to 155 entries. Right now, only 27 hopefuls remain with the hope of playing for a gold bracelet at a discount.

On Day 1A the first seat open came after some nine minutes and Day 1B would be even faster, as Jan Hajek was eliminated within the first eight minutes. He got it in preflop against Giuseppe Tedeschi and it was the classic clash of the two best pocket pairs.

On the heads-up turn of , Evgeny Medyukha checked out of the big blind and Jonas Steinmueller on the button made it 600 to go, Medyukha called. The came on the river and Medyukha now overbet the pot for 5,000. Steinmueller immediately grinned and gave it some thought, checked his cards again.
"No need to gamble this early," he added and sent his cards into the muck. Medyukha first revealed the followed by the and claimed the pot.

Shaun Deeb, Philipp Zukernik and Ondrej Lon jumped in mid-way through the first level of the day and Vlado Sevo followed soon after.
"I will need luck, these guys are sick," Deeb joked on his way to the table. It wasn't difficult for him to find it, as he started in the very same seat on Day 1A as well.

Josef Schmalzbauer became the second casualty of Day 1B and Evangelos Vougiouklakis may have very well been the third player to bust, but won a flip against Vladimir Valent.
Valent had dropped a few chips in a multi-way pot against Evgeny Medyukha and then put the Greek at risk with versus . Valent flopped best on , but the turn and river run out gave Vougiouklakis a full house on the river.
