Waxman Climbing

Matt Giannetti raised to 2,000 from middle position and Matt Waxman called out of the big blind to see the flop come down {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Waxman checked and Giannetti bet 2,000. Waxman made the call.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and both players checked to see another ace land on the river with the {A-Diamonds}. Waxman bet 7,500 and Giannetti tanked for a couple minutes. He eventually laid it down and Waxman won the pot.

Here Comes Fleyshman

Dan Fleyshman seems to think he's playing a Shootout today. Walking past his table, we see that he's worked his starting stack of about 70,000 up over 200,000 here in the first few minutes, and there's not many more chips left between the other five seats at his table. His neighbor Peter Jetten started with six figures, but he's now down under 10,000 after a big clash with Fleyshman.

And just a moment ago, Fleyshman took out his other neighbor, Farzad Bonyadi in a battle of the blinds. It began with Alexander Rumeliotis opening to 1,600 from middle position, and Bonyadi flatted in the small blind. In the big, Fleyshman looked down at two queens and squeezed in a reraise to 5,800. That folded Rumeliotis, but Bonyadi moved all in over the top with {A-Spades} {10-Spades}, and Fleyshman put him to the test.

The flop brought a ten and two more spades for Bonyadi, but he could not get over the hump as the turn and river bricked off.

Fleyshman, America's youngest-ever CEO of a publicly traded company, finished in seventh place in the WSOPE Main Event in London last year, and the style he employs makes him a threat to win whenever he amasses a chip stack. You could certainly call 210,000 "a chip stack" right now, and Fleyshman's big lead sets him up well for the rest of the day.

Robl Four-Bet Folds to Lundmark

From under the gun, Andrew Robl raised to 2,000. Kent Lundmark reraised from the cutoff seat to 5,300 and play folded back to Robl. He four-bet to 12,200 with 45,000 behind. Lundmark moved all in and had Robl covered. Robl gave it up and Lundmark won the pot.

Busquet Forced Out by Shorr's Pressure

Olivier Busquet raised to 1,600 and Shannon Shorr three-bet in position to 4,500. Action folded back to Busquet and he called to see the flop, which came down {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Busquet checked, Shorr bet 5,000 and Busquet called.

The turn paired the board with the {2-Hearts}. After Busquet checked, Shorr opted to check behind and see the river.

The {10-Spades} added a second pair to the board. Now with tens and deuces as community cards, Busquet checked. Shorr took some time and then bet 29,000. Busquet had about 26,000 behind and would call for his tournament life if he put the chips in. He opted not to and Shorr won the pot.

Kenney Hits the Century Mark

It's been a quick rise through the field today for Bryn Kenney, coming into the day as one of the very shortest stacks with 10,000.

Another walk past his table sees him now sitting pretty with right at 100,000, and that's pretty fine work for the American. Kenney is at a tough table that features a pair of cagey Frenchman in Nicolas Levi and David Benyamine.

Deeb Bests Durrrr

Freddy Deeb
Freddy Deeb

Under the gun, Tom Dwan raised to 2,100, and Freddy Deeb three-bet to 7,500 in position on the button. Dwan called, and the two men checked through the {8-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} flop. The raggy {4-Diamonds} hit fourth street, and Dwan checked again. Deeb took his cue to make the delayed continuation bet of 7,000, and Dwan studied carefully before check-raising to 25,600 total. He had just about 60,000 behind, and Deeb craned his neck to catch a glimpse of that remainder. After a few minutes, he called.

The river came the {K-Spades}, and Dwan surrendered the lead with another check. Deeb eventually announced a covering all in, and Dwan gave it just a cursory look before slipping his cards into the muck.
