This year's One Drop events were a massive success. In the little One Drop, $487,401 was raised and every single person who entered the event contributed to the donation.
Between the High Roller and Little One Drop, more than $992,000 went to One Drop on behalf of the players in 2017. What an incredible number and it just goes to show the benefits that can come from the poker world and how giving people are. With 680 players showing as remaining on the board, the bubble has quickly approached and a count is being taken. Action will either be hand-for-hand or close to it. Stay tuned.
As action was being paused, Martin Jacobson was seen leaving the tournament area as his WSOP has come to an end. Jacobson had four cashes this summer, most notably was in Event #6: $111,111 HIGH ROLLER for ONE DROP No-Limit Hold'em where he finished in sixth place for $641,382.
A player in the cutoff raised to 2,700. Jan Eric Schwippert was in the small blind and three-bet to 10,600. Harvey Alegado was in the big blind and moved all in for what appeared to be 36,800. Schwippet called. The action was paused until a tournament director came over.
Schwippert:
Alegado:
The board ran out and the turned ace spelled the end for Alegado who unfortunately fell just short of the money.
The bubble has burst and with first-place money a good way off in the distance, there is a convivial atmosphere among most of the players as they mark the end of their summer grind with a cash and a flag.
On one table, players are laughing and joking about the different types of tilt they have been on in the tournament with one declaring that he was currently on “baby tilt.”
At another, a fresh dealer is thanking those who have contributed to such a worthy cause by playing the Little One for One Drop, especially those that bought in multiple times.
