Daniel Negreanu has been providing plenty of entertainment in this event with his multiple bustouts and re-entries, but it looks like that might be coming to an end, as he found a double-up and is currently sitting at 23,500.
"I finally have some chips, so now I can stop being an idiot," Negreanu said to his table. "Alcohol!" he yelled out to no one in particular. "I haven't had a drink since May, but I feel like having one now," he said with a laugh.
Andrew Cook and Philip Barret got all in preflop, with Cook being at risk for his remaining 4,700.
Andrew Cook:
Philip Barrett:
The flop was . Both players flopped a set, and Cook now needed the case three to hit if he was going to survive. The turn was the leaving Cook with one final hope.
The dealer burned and miraculously flipped over the , giving Cook quads and leaving Barrett rather flabbergasted.
It was mentioned earlier that Table 246 was the table to watch out for, as it started out with Sorel Mizzi, Allyn Shulman, and William Kassouf. Well, the latest of those three busted out a while ago, meaning it was a bit more quiet over there, but that has changed now that the "Poker Brat" himself, Phil Hellmuth, has taken his seat there.
Hellmuth's entrance got a nice reaction from the table, with one player commenting, "Now you guys have a reason to come over here again!"
Daniel Weinand was overheard telling the story of one of Negreanu's bustouts from the tournament, though it's not clear whether it was Negreanu's first or second bullet.
"He opened under the gun for 400," Weinand explained. "The hijack shoved all in. Then, either the cutoff or the button re-shoved. I was in the big blind with queens, and Negreanu called."
Negreanu was holding and was up against Weinand's as well as another pair of and a pair of , as well.
"He almost made a straight," Weinand explained. "And on the first hand, he shoved with ten-eight off-suit and doubled up against sixes!"
Negreanu has already rebought and taken a seat in the Pavilion Room, and it appears as if he's taking a relaxed approach to this tournament.
