Craft Reappears for One Last Hurrah

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Mickey Craft
Mickey Craft

While Mickey Craft has made his exit from the tournament, he's still managing to make his presence felt in the tournament.

Craft reappeared at his old table bearing a tray full of Patron shots. He handed one out to every player at the table to a loud roar of cheers from the rail and his old table mates, who began laughing. Some drank their shots while others protested.

"If you wanna play good, Patron!" one of the players said.

To reporters, Craft explained what he was up to and why he had bought his table a round of shots.

"I just want to say thank you to everyone for everything," Craft said. "I just wanted to make a little fun of poker. Whether you go out with king-queen or seven-deuce, it's all for fun. I just wanted to make a little light of these guys day and to say thank you."

While Craft may not be going further than Day 5, he certainly has made a big impact on many here in the tournament and will be remembered as one of the most memorable players from this year's Main Event.

Rothstein Doubles Through Messina

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Jeff Rothstein
Jeff Rothstein

The video crew swarmed around a table where Valentin Messina and Jeffrey Rothstein were battling in a massive pot.

There was already around 1,300,000 in the pot, and Rothstein had moved all in on the river of a {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{k-Spades} board. Rothstein's all in was for 1,195,000, which would give Messina a big chip lead if he called and won the hand. Messina tanked for a few minutes while a sizable crowd gathered around.

Eventually, Messina called, and Rothstein tabled {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for trip fours. Messina's hand was also shown, having a pair of kings with {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

Not All Canadians Hold Hands: Srinivasan Finds Huge Double Through Guay

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Shyam Srinivasan
Shyam Srinivasan

Action folded to David Guay in the cutoff, and he raised to 85,000. Shyam Srinivasan three-bet to 315,000 from the small blind and after thinking for about a minute, Guay four-bet to 2,085,000. Srinivasan didn't think twice and piled his stack worth 1,945,000 into the middle. Guay called.

Srinivasan was at risk but well ahead with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} up against Guay's {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and Srinivasan paired his king to extend his lead much further. The turn was the {6-Spades}, and Guay was drawing dead to the {5-Hearts} on the river.

Canadians may have a reputation for being nice and apologizing for anything and everything, but these two certainly came to battle.

Player Interview: Colin Moffat

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Colin Moffatt
Colin Moffatt

Right before the Day 5 dinner break, PokerNews caught up with Canadian Colin Moffat, who started that day as one of the top ten stacks with 3,086,000 and has run it up to 5,580,000 in three levels of play.

When asked about how he feels about his play today, Moffat thought for a second, smiled, and said, "It's going really well. I can't complain."

Of course, it's hard to complain when you are sitting as one of the big stacks deep in the Main.

Moffatt didn't want to go into details on the hands for fear of giving away information. But he did say he felt like he was at a pretty good table, at least good for him. He's been able to apply pressure, and holding the table chip lead has certainly earned him some respect.

He did mention one memorable hand where he won a big pot without even seeing a flop when he five-bet jam. It's that image and his confidence to pull it off that are keeping him near the top of the chip counts.

Moffatt: I'm running really good, and things are working in my favor. I'm making some decent plays here and there, but I'm also getting lucky when I need to.

PokerNews: You had a run in the 2014 Main Event, placing 538th, and you knocked out Johnny Chan from 2013 Main Event on Day 3. It doesn't look like you're a full-time player, though, so can you tell us more?

Moffatt: Mostly, these days, I play just for fun, to be honest. I consider myself a recreational player. I mostly play home games with my friends, and once and a while I play online for fun.

PN: So why the Main Event?

Moffatt: I've played the Main Event for the last six years. I like playing it. It's a great tournament and a lot of fun, so I keep coming out.

Mickey Craft's Main Event Ends with Seven-Deuce

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Mickey Craft
Mickey Craft

On the live stream shortly before the dinner break, Mickey Craft opened to 125,000 in early position, and Michael Ruane three-bet to 325,000 in middle position. Craft called, and they saw a {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop. Craft moved all in for about 1,500,000, and Ruane called.

Craft had {7-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a pair of sevens, but he was behind Ruane's {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Craft was on his feet, and Ruane stared intensely at the board as the {J-Clubs} came on the turn, followed by the {8-Clubs} on the river.

Ruane celebrated with a clap and Craft looked over at his new fiance with a shrug.

In his exit interview with Kara Scott, Craft mentioned he had a great time in the Main Event. He said of the tournament, "This means absolutely nothing," and in regard to his fiance, "I have her for life."

After a romantic run in the Main Event and a romantic exit interview, Craft made his way to the payout desk to collect his $53,247.

Blumstein Puts Lamb to the Test

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Scott Blumstein
Scott Blumstein

As the camera crew surrounded the table, Ben Lamb and Scott Blumstein were involved in a massive pot. There looked to be about 2,000,000 already in the middle, and the board was on the turn, reading {3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.

Both players checked and saw the {6-Spades} complete the board and put a full house on board, as well. Blumstein took his time and cut out a bet of 840,000. This sent Lamb into the tank for a few minutes, contemplating the huge decision. He eventually folded, and then the table started a conversation about what the two players had as the camera crew was shown their cards.

Lamb, oblivious that this was a thing, asked when his cards or his opponents would be shown. Lamb was told by the crew that the hands would be processed post-production, sparking an idea from Lamb.

"Wait, who around here knows so I can bribe them?" Lamb asked jokingly. "$500!"

Blumstein looked at Lamb and said, "I'll tell you for $600."

Tracy Nguyen
Tracy Nguyen

According to Shyam Srinivasan, he raised to 100,000. Action folded around to Tracy Nguyen, who three-bet all in for about 255,000. Srinivasan called to put her at risk.

Srinivasan: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Nguyen: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The board rolled out unfavorably for Nguyen when the flop came {9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}, putting Srinivasan in a commanding lead. He held on through the {3-Diamonds} turn and the {4-Hearts} river, and that did it for Nguyen, who exited the tournament area.

The last two women left standing are Yuan-Yuan Li and Jessica Ngu, both of whom are seated at the same table.

On the PokerGO streamed table, Mickey Craft raised to 125,000 from early position with {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} and Alex Massman three-bet to 475,000 from middle position with {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. It folded back to Craft and he called. On the {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop, Massman got his stack of 960,000 all in and Craft called to put him at risk.

The cards were tabled and Craft needed help. He didn't find it on the {7-Diamonds} turn or the {J-Clubs} river and Massman doubled through. Craft took the hit to his stack which put him down near one million chips.
