Jens Lakemeier Looks to Prove His Knowlege of Limit Games

Less than one week ago, Jens Lakemeier proved his knowledge of the big-bet mixed games by taking down his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet in Event #59: $2,500 Big Bet Mix.

Just a few days ago, he took his shot at Event #62: $50,000 Poker Player's Championship. Lakemeier did not make the money in that event, but he's still looking to prove that, not only does he have knowledge of the big-bet mixed games, but also the limit mixed games, as well. He's doing his best to make that statement by entering in this event.

Lakemeier will have to be at the top of his game, because also at his table is renowned mixed game expert Adam Owen, as well as Andrew Kelsall, who has already made the final table of three mixed-game events this summer, including the Big Bet Mix that Lakemeier won.

Kelsall and Lakemeier were recently involved in a pot together.

Kelsall completed and was raised by Lakemeier. Kelsall called. On fourth street, Kelsall bet, and Lakemeier called. On fifth, Kelsall bet one more time, and Lakemeier let his hand go, awarding the pot to Kelsall.

"I can show you one," Kelsall said. He turned up a and scooped the pot, keeping his other card face-down.

Lakemeier has built up a nice stack already on Day 1 and will look to continue building on his way to a deep run here in Event #69.

Leah caught a three on fourth street and bet, and Hellmuth caught a seven and raised. Leah called. Fifth street was a brick for both. Leah paired his two, and Hellmuth caught a king but took the lead and bet. Leah called.

Sixth street paired Hellmuth and brought an eight for Leah. Leah regained the lead and bet. Hellmuth called. Leah bet seventh street, as well, and Hellmuth called.

Hellmuth won the hand with a nine after Leah showed only a queen-low.

With a total of 419 players entering the event, the prize pool amassed a total of $565,650. First place will be taking home $132,957, while a final table appearance is worth at least $11,024. A total of 63 players will be paid, with a min-cash being worth $2,261.

Phil Hellmuth and Adam Owen both called Eric Kurtzman's bring-in before another player at the table completed. Hellmuth then made it two bets, Owen made it three bets, and both the completer and Hellmuth called.

On fourth street, Hellmuth bet, Owen made it two bets, and the other player called, as did Hellmuth. On fifth street, the opponent bet, and both Hellmuth and Owen called.

Action checked to Owen on sixth. He bet, the other player in the hand called, and Hellmuth folded. Owen bet once more on seventh and was called by his opponent.

Owen showed for a seven-six low, and that was good for him to take down the big pot. Owen's opponent frustratedly mucked, while Hellmuth threw up his hands in front of him in frustration and started muttering something about his starting hand.

"I liked my hand," Owen said as he shrugged and raked in the pot.
