Allen Kessler Eliminated by Joseph Capello Just Before Break

Nível 4 : 250/500, 50 ante
Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

Cappello: {X-}{X-}/{J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}/{X-}
Kessler: {X-}{X-}/{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{2-Hearts}/{X-}
Akkari: {X-}{X-}/{3-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}/{X-}

Allen Kessler was all in when he completed on third street, and Joseph Cappello and Andre Akkari were heads-up on the side.

Akkari folded when Cappello bet on seventh street, and Cappello showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for two pair, aces and jacks. Kessler's {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} was no good.

Cappello indicated that he had aces in the hole while Kessler had buried tens to start the hand. Kessler was eliminated, and Cappello is now sitting with the chip lead.

Tablemate Andrew Barber joked after the hand about Cappello's chip stack, "I've never seen anyone win the tournament on Day 1 before."

Naoya Kihara
Naoya Kihara

Bracelet winner Naoya Kihara was just eliminated from the tournament.

According to players at the table, Kihara got the rest of his chips in on fifth street with {X-}{X-}/{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-} against his opponent's {X-}{X-}/{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Kihara made trip nines, but it was no good on the end against his opponent's full house, fives full of threes.

Josh Gibson's Pair is Good

Nível 4 : 250/500, 50 ante

Gibson: {X-}{X-}/{Q-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}/{X-}
Nguyen: {X-}{X-}/{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}/{X-}
Owen: {X-}{X-}/{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}/{X-}

On sixth street, these three players put in 500 and, on seventh street, Gibson checked, Nguyen checked, and Owen checked back. Gibson tabled {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for just a pair of aces and that was good enough to take down the pot.

Raymer Eliminated by Leah

Nível 4 : 250/500, 50 ante

Mike Leah has knocked out Greg Raymer to rise to 17,000 in chips. Leah started out with {A-}{Q-}{3-} while Raymer began with a buried pair of sevens.

Leah caught both a queen and a trey during the rundown while Raymer never improved beyond his starting pair. The 2004 WSOP Main Event Champion, who was playing almost directly under his World Championship banner in the Amazon room, handed Leah the fossil for knocking him out and headed out of the tournament area.
