Colossus III: Original Colossus Champ Joins and Mike Sexton Folds the River

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Cord Garcia from a previous event
Cord Garcia from a previous event

Cord Garcia is now sitting only a couple tables away from Colossus II Champion Ben Keeline. Garcia won the inaugural Colossus tournament at the 2015 WSOP and, despite success elsewhere, has not won a WSOP gold bracelet since. His Colossus win also brought a first-place prize of $638,880, so he may have extra motivation to land the $1,000,000 guaranteed to this year's champion.

He is seated with Mike Sexton, who just lost most of his stack after folding to a river bet.

Brandon Sowers opened to 450 and three players called, including Sexton and Garcia.

The flop was {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Sowers bet 675. Sexton raised to 2,000 and Sowers called. The turn was the {a-Clubs} and both players checked.

The river was the {9-Spades} and Sowers led for 1,400. Sexton took some time to fold, counting out his remaining stack a few times before letting his hand go. He is now sitting with just above 2,000.

Updated Chip Counts: Joe Trezzo Knocks One Out

Nível 3 : 75/150, 25 ante

Joe Trezzo just knocked out a short-stacked player who shoved all in for 1,200 with pocket jacks. Trezzo had pocket aces and went all in over the top. No players called and Trezzo won the hand.

Former November Niners Ylon Schwartz and Vojtech Ruzicka are in the flight as well. Schwartz has already managed to double his starting stack.

A couple of east coast tournament grinders, Andy Spears and DJ Mackinnon, are playing the flight as well. They both have won a WSOP Circuit Ring and have more than $400,000 in WSOP tournament earnings, but neither has won a WSOP gold bracelet to this point. The Colossus III would be as good a time as any to win their first bracelet and the $1,000,000 first-place prize.

More Counts, Defending Champ Enters

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Ben Keeline has taken his seat in Day 1b of the Colossus III. He won this event last year for $1,000,000 and would be the first-ever back-to-back Colossus champ if he managed to win this tournament. It's going to be a long road, but his first step just started as he checked in at table 30 in the Amazon room.

Eric Baldwin just doubled up with pocket queens versus pocket nines and is just under double the starting stack.

Below are some of the other notable players in the field so far.

Some Day 1b Notables

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
CJ Sand
CJ Sand

CJ Sand, who won last year's WSOP Casino Employees Event, is in the field for Day 1b of Colossus III. He says he wished he had done a better job and defended his Casino Employees Event title, but will settle for success in this tournament.

To his left, Julie Cornelius is looking for her first WSOP gold bracelet. She has earned $54,000 in WSOP tournament winnings on 17 cashes.

Dan Dizenzo is also in the field. He has 24 WSOP cashes and a little more than $320,000 in WSOP tournament winnings. He is also looking for his first bracelet.

Katherine Baresse is firing the Colossus III. She kicked off her WSOP 2017 earlier in the series when she joined John Morgan, Dan Holbrook, and Sasha Barrese in the $10,000 Tag Team Championship.
