Cary Katz Turns a Boat Against Florent Aubert

Nível 3 : 75/150, 0 ante
Cary Katz (from a previous event)
Cary Katz (from a previous event)

Florent Aubert raised to 450 in the cutoff, Cary Katz called on the button, and the small blind called.

It was three ways to the flop of {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, and the small blind checked. Aubert bet 800, Katz called, and the small blind called. On the {8-Hearts} turn, the small blind checked, Aubert bet 2,500, Katz called, and the small blind folded.

The river was the {9-Diamonds}, and both players checked. Katz showed {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for fives full of eights, and Aubert flashed a very similar hand — {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} — before mucking.

Dong Suh Doubles Through Daniel Reijmer

Nível 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Daniel Reijmer opened to 350 from under the gun, Jeff Madsen called from the button, Dong Suh called from the small blind, and the big blind came along, as well.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, and action checked around to Madsen, who bet 1,025. Suh check-raised to 4,400, Reijmer called, and Madsen folded.

The turn brought the {A-Clubs}, and Suh moved all in for about 3,000. Reijmer called, and the two players tabled their hands.

Suh: {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Reijmer: {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

Suh had the lead but needed to dodge Reijmer's straight and flush draws in order to double up. The {3-Spades} river was no help to Reijmer, and Suh scooped the pot.

Sam Soverel Pulls Off a Bluff Against Adam Owen

Nível 3 : 75/150, 0 ante
Sam Soverel
Sam Soverel

Sam Soverel, who has a WSOP bracelet from $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha last year, just got a bluff through.

Action folded to Adam Owen on the button, and he raised to 525. The small blind folded, and Sam Soverel raised to 1,550 in the big blind. Owen called, and Soverel said he meant to make it 1,650.

The flop came {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{7-Hearts}, and Soverel bet 1,000. Owen called, and the turn was the {8-Hearts}. Soverel bet 5,100 this time, and as Owen was thinking, Soverel commented that now he wished he had put in the extra 100 preflop. Owen called. The river was the {3-Clubs}, and Soverel went all in for his remaining stack of 2,700. Owen folded, and Soverel immediately said, "Nothing," and showed {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} before raking in the pot.

Christopher Frank Sends One Home

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

According to Christopher Frank, action folded to him in the small blind and he made it 300. The big blind raised to 900 and Frank called. The flop came {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Frank check-called a bet of 1,500. The turn was the {3-Spades} and Frank checked. His opponent bet the pot and Frank moved all in. His opponent called and was all in for 11,575.

Frank: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
All-in player: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Frank's top two pair was ahead and the river was the {K-Hearts}, improving Frank to Broadway for the nuts. His opponent was out and Frank stacked the chips.

Underquads Are Good (Even in PLO)

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

With about 800 chips already in the middle and the board reading {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}, Rex Clinkscales bet 400 out of the small blind and the big blind called. The player in the cutoff folded and the blinds were heads up going to the river.

The dealer put the {3-Clubs} out to complete the board and Clinkscales bet 1,500. After brief consideration, his opponent folded and Clinkscales flipped over {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

"Backdoor quads!" said Clinkscales with a wide smile. "But I had this too," he said as he tabled the {J-Clubs} to reveal that he blocked quad jacks.

Chance Kornuth Chips Up

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante
Chance Kornuth earlier in the summer
Chance Kornuth earlier in the summer

A player in the cutoff raised to 250 and PLO bracelet winner Chance Kornuth three-bet to 600 from the button. The cutoff called and the two players saw a flop of {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}. The cutoff checked, Kornuth bet 750, and the cutoff called.

The turn brought the {J-Hearts} and the cutoff checked. Kornuth bet again, 2,500 this time, and his opponent called.

The {7-Clubs} fell on the river and the cutoff checked a third time. Kornuth bet 4,000 and, after brief consideration, his opponent called.

Kornuth tabled {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades} for bottom set, which was good enough to win the pot as his opponent sent his cards into the muck.
