Pescatori Wins Two in a Row

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Max Pescatori won two consecutive hands, beating Justin Bonomo in the former and Ted Forrest in the latter.

In the first hand, action folded to Pescatori who matched Bonomo's bring-in. Pescatori then bet on fourth and fifth, with his board reading three low cards. Bonomo called on both streets, and sixth went check-check. Pescatori placed another bet on the river, and Bonomo called.

Justin Bonomo: {X-}{X-} / {3-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} / {X-}
Max Pescatori: {X-}{X-} / {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} / {X-}

Pescatori rolled over {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for nines up, and Bonomo mucked.

The second hand saw Ted Forrest complete and Pescatori was the only player who called. Pescatori then bet every street including the river. Forrest called on fourth and fifth, then paused on sixth but eventually called again. However, Forrest laid down on the river.

Ted Forrest: {X-}{X-} / {5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} / {X-} (folded on seventh street)
Max Pescatori: {X-}{X-} / {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Spades} / {X-}

Pescatori vaulted to 465,000 with the aforementioned two scoops and climbs among the top stacks.

Lewis Surprises Them

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Barbara Lewis paired up on fifth street with {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, but Steve Jelinek picked up three to a wheel with {4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and raised Lewis' bet. Lewis called and then check-called sixth.

Barbara Lewis: {x-}{x-} / {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Steve Jelinek: {x-}{x-} / {4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs}

On the last round, both players checked. "Full house," Lewis announced, showing {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for a well-disguised kings full.

"That was tough to see coming," someone said.

Jelinek said he had aces up.

Kohler's Flush Good

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Barbara Lewis bet into three opponents with {2-Hearts}{10-Clubs} showing after everyone saw fourth street for the minimum, and only Bill Kohler and his {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} came along. Despite Kohler catching a {j-Hearts}, Lewis barreled away until seventh street.

Barbara Lewis: {x-}{x-} / {2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} / {x-}
Bill Kohler: {x-}{x-} / {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades} / {x-}

Upon looking at his river card, Kohler announced a bet, and Lewis announced a call in response.

"Flush," Kohler said, tabling {3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs} to win the pot.

Zewin and Bonomo Chop Capped Three-Way Pot

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

With the stacks of both leader Ted Forrest and Dimitrios Magdalinos still abandoned, Don Zewin, Justin Bonomo and Walter Treccarichi battled in a giant pot during the first minutes of the final day.

The hand started when Zewin completed. Bonomo raised and Treccarichi, who had the bring-in, three-bet. Zewin called but Bonomo capped it, earning two calls.

Zewin hit an ace on fourth, so he acted first. He led out on both fourth and fifth, but both of his opponents still stuck around. Then it was Bonomo who boosted the massive pot even more. He fired on sixth and seventh, but all three players remained contesting the pot all the way through.

Walter Treccarichi: {X-}{X-} / {3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{A-Clubs} / {X-}
Don Zewin: {X-}{X-} / {7-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{6-Spades}{K-Spades} / {X-}
Justin Bonomo: {X-}{X-} / {6-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{8-Clubs} / {X-}

Bonomo announced he had a flush, showing {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Treccarichi offered his "I have a bad low," turning over {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Zewin had low too, with {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} in the hole for seven-low.

Bonomo and Zewin chopped the large pot while Treccarichi lost nearly a half of his belongings.

Legends Race for the $1,500 Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Title

Max Pescatori
Max Pescatori

From a starting field of 595, only 16 players will return to the Brasilia Room Thursday at 2 p.m. to face off for the Event #40: $1,500 Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better title. Vying for a bracelet and the $173,228 first-place prize are several of the best "end bosses" who have already earned fame at the World Series of Poker.

The line-up on Table 2 features 14 WSOP triumphs combined among four players at the table. They're led by the captain Ted Forrest with 416,000 chips and six bracelets to his name. Forrest has won two stud and two razz events at the World Series, but he's yet to earn one in stud hi-lo. The 52-year-old has been around for nearly three decades, earning his first live cashes in the early 1990s.

Forrest will, however, have to outlast exceptionally gifted players who will meet him at the last two tables. One of them is "The Italian Pirate" Max Pescatori, a four-time bracelet winner himself, whose packed résumé boasts 70 cashes from the WSOP. Pescatori, who will continue with 324,000 in chips, conquered the $10,000 Stud Hi-Lo Championship event back in 2015.

Another legend at that table is famous theoretician David Sklansky, a pioneer of poker writing. Sklansky has authored or co-authored 13 books on gambling or poker. He certainly knows how to apply his math skills in practice, too, as has three bracelets to his name. While he'll return to the second shortest stack (117,000), Sklansky still has hopes for bracelet number four.

Forrest, Pescatori and Sklansky will also tangle with Justin Bonomo, an accomplished high roller with over $16.7 million in live tournament cashes. Bonomo already has one WSOP title under his belt. Bonomo will start the final day with 210,000.

Don Zewin, Tim Finne and Walter Treccarichi are also well-known poker heroes, while Dimitrios Magdalinos showed some hot wheels on Day 2, too.

While Table 2 comprises of some of the iconic players across generations, Table 1 can't be left without attention either. Two biggest stacks, decorated WSOP champion Steve Jelinek (485,000) and Hal Rotholz (445,000), will battle Barbara Lewis (407,000), the last woman standing who is currently fifth in chips.

Follow PokerNews live updates to see who emerges from this talented group as champion as the tournament is set to conclude Thursday evening.
