Another Break

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Players are on another 15-minute break while tournament officials color up the 500-denomination chips. Here is a look at some of the leaders and how they stack up:

Whitters Cracks Aces

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Richard Malacaria was under the gun and raised to 16,000. Jon Whitters was in middle position and three-bet to 35,000. Armand King called on the button, and Malacaria announced, "All in." Whitters called, and King tank-folded, showing {a-}{k-}.

Whitters tabled {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, and Malacaria showed {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, giving Whitters top set. The turn was the {k-Hearts} and the river the {j-Hearts}, giving Whitters the big win and putting him over 300,000 in chips.

Andor Schiller Avoids the Ace

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Andor Schiller had all of his chips in the middle against Bob Buckenmayer preflop. Schiller started the hand with 188,000, which barely covered the 181,500-chip stack of his opponent. Schiller was ahead with {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} against Buckenmayer's {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

The board ran out {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, and Schiller was able to avoid any possible disaster.

Woods Caught in a Cooler

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

According to the table, James Woods and Arthur Cohen got into a huge preflop confrontation for Cohen's effective stack of roughly 160,000. Woods had pocket kings, and Cohen had pocket aces. The board ran out clean, and Cohen got the full double, leaving Woods in a tough spot and needing to find some hands quickly.

Goldberg Holds Faith in the Ladies

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Stephen Sallot limped from early position, and Kerry Goldberg raised to 27,000 from late position. The action folded back around to Sallot, who moved all in for 157,000. Goldberg called for just less than that — 155,000.

Goldberg: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Sallot: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Goldberg was way out in front with his pocket queens, but when the dealer fanned the flop of {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, the roles were reversed, with Sallot now in the lead. The turn was the {5-Hearts}, and Goldberg started to get out of his seat. However, the river brought the {q-Diamonds}, and the table erupted. Goldberg rivered a bigger full house than Sallot, leaving his opponent with just 2,000 chips.

Leva Eliminated by Stackpoole

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Jerry Leva was in middle position and moved all in for 27,000. Kathleen Stackpoole was in the big blind and called.

Stackpoole tabled {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, and Leva showed {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades} {q-Clubs} {6-Hearts}, and Stackpoole made a full house on the river to take it down.
