Affleck Doesn't Get There; Loses Big One

Nível 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Matt Affleck, who made it to the final table in the 18,054-entry Colossus Event to finish in eighth place for $103,090, just lost a huge pot.

There were only four players at Affleck's table, and three of them, including Affleck, were involved on the {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop. Action checked to the button, who bet 1,000. The small blind check-raised to 2,500, and Affleck check-re-raised to 5,500.

The player on the button quickly mucked, but the small blind responded with an all-in, which was instantly called by Affleck, who had a strong draw with {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. He faced {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}, the bottom set, and didn't get any piece of the remaining two cards on the board.

Affleck shipped 14,925 chips his opponent's way, leaving him with a big double. Affleck himself dropped below 12 big blinds.

Rudziankov Folds to All-In on the River

Nível 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Under the gun, Artur Rudziankov opened to 700. The player on the button three-bet to 2,100, and action returned to Rudziankov, who aimed at his opponent's stack and called.

The flop brought {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, and Rudziankov check-called another 2,300 before the {K-Clubs} hit the turn. No bets were made on that street, so the dealer turned over the {10-Spades} on the river.

Rudziankov checked again, but his opponent announced he was all in, and Rudziankov laid his hand down. He is, however, still sitting very strong with around 28,500 chips in front of him.

David Peters Doubles Up

Nível 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

In the very first hand at his new table, David Peters got all of his chips in.

The button opened to 700, the small blind made it 2,000, and Peters moved all in for 6,325 in the big blind. The button quickly folded, and the small blind called, putting Peters at risk.

Peters: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Small blind: {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The board came {K-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}, and Peters' ace-high held up for the double.

After the hand, the small blind commented, "I might regret that in a couple hours."

Peters laughed and collected the chips.

ElkY Can Walk on Water

Nível 5 : 150/300, 50 ante
Bertrand Grospellier (as seen in a previous event)
Bertrand Grospellier (as seen in a previous event)

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier is already locked into a spot as one of the biggest winners of the 2017 World Series of Poker. Grospellier finished second in the High Roller for One Drop, picking up a juicy $2,278,657 reward.

His momentum apparently carries on even in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed. Grospellier was in the big blind, facing an all-in from the player in the cutoff. It was about 5,000, and ElkY didn't spend more than a second calling to put his opponent at risk.

Grospellier had {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} and was up against {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}. He needed some high cards on the board, and indeed, he got some. It was a fast process as the dealer revealed the {8-}{K-}{9-}{K-}{A-} on the board, improving ElkY's hand to a full house.

Ausmus Can't Call Srinivasan's River Bet

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

"How do you know everyone's names?" asked Shyam Srinivasan after the last hand before the break.

Srinivasan was the main character of the story. In such a huge field, the reporters certainly can't know everyone, but when an online superstar of Srinivasan's capacity takes to the felt, it's likely they'll be buzzing around the table to see what's going on.

More than that, Srinivasan tangled with former November Niner Jeremy Ausmus in the aforementioned hand. Srinivasan later described his opponent quite simply: "He's a sicko."

Their battle was on, with the board reading {K-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{A-Spades} on the turn. Ausmus, sitting under the gun, checked to Srinivasan (on the button), who fired 1,000 into a pot of about 2,500.

Ausmus called, and they saw the {7-Diamonds} complete the board. Ausmus checked once again, but Srinivasan didn't want to show his cards for free. He set the price at 3,400. Ausmus thought about it for a bit but eventually folded.

Srinivasan counted his chips before he left the room for a break; he'll return to around 20,000. Ausmus is also doing just fine.

Steve Gross Gets a Fold From Al Hedin

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

With the board reading {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and over 2,000 in the pot, Al Hedin bet 1,300 in the small blind. Steve Gross was under the gun and he called. The remaining player, in middle position, got out of the way and it was heads up to the turn.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Hedin bet 2,350. Gross called again and the river was the {J-Hearts}. This time, Hedin bet 3,000 and Gross raised to 9,100. Hedin thought it over briefly and folded as the other players in the room were heading off to break.

Toby Lewis and Paul Volpe Check It Out

Nível 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

We got to the table to see both Toby Lewis, on the button, and Paul Volpe, on the big blind, in a hand.

The flop showed the {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades} on which they both checked.

On the turn the {A-Spades} came and they both checked again.

The river completed the board with the {6-Hearts} and again they went, check, check.

Volpe showed the {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} but Lewis showed the {10-Spades}{8-Clubs} to take the pot.
