Day 3 of Event #89: $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship No-Limit Hold'em at the World Series of Poker, hosted by Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas has come to an end with just 17 players remaining.

This is the inaugural year for this event, attracting a massive player pool of 3,177 entries and amassing an impressive $8,482,590 prize pool. The top prize, accompanied by the much sought-after bracelet, totals a whopping $1,041,989.

After ten levels of play, the United States' own Taylor Black claimed the chip lead with an impressive 20,725,000. Adam Owen was the next closest, finishing the night with 15,175,000, followed by WSOP bracelet winner Dong Chen, who rounded out the top three with 10,950,000.

Some 147 players began the day, and it didn't take long for the eliminations to start. Among the early exits were several well-known and notable players, including Brock Wilson (145th), Pete Chen (142nd), Aditya Prasetyo (111th), and Main Event champion Scott Blumstein (109th).

Others to advance to Day 3 but not quite make it to the final day include $25k Fantasy players, Alex Livingston (119th), Taylor Paur (98th), Patrick Leonard (90th), and Jim Collopy (50th).

Well-known poker professional Alec Torelli had quite the rollercoaster of a day, including when he lost a massive chunk of his stack in the last few hours of the night when Gediminas Dirmantas picked off his bluff with a pair of sevens. However, it didn't take long for him togain his chips back as his pocket pair was able to hold against the two overcards of Dirmantas shortly after, and finish the night with 7,800,000.

The final 17 players have all locked up a payout of $52,150. However, all eyes are on the grand prize of $1,041,989 and the coveted WSOP gold bracelet.

Day 4 begins at 11 a.m. on July 15 at Level 31, with blinds at 125,000/250,000 and a big blind ante of 250,000. Play will continue until a new champion is crowned.

Oleksii Kravchuk Eliminated in 19th place ($42,088)

Alec Torelli raised the button to 400,000 and Taylor Black three-bet from the small blind to 1,200,000. Oleksii Kravchuk moved all in from the big blind, for his remaining 4,740,000 chips, and Black was the only caller.

Kravchuk was ahead pre-flop and looking to stay that way to keep him alive.

The flop came 525 and the Q turn improved Kravchuk and he was in the lead with two pair with the ace kicker. All Kravchuk had to do was evade a king.

As the dealer placed the K river, the table, and the rail, let out a gasp. Black stole the pot from Kravchuk and eliminated him in 19th place.

Gediminas Dirmantas raised to 500,000 from the button and David Uvaydov three-bet to 4,140,000 leaving behind a single 25,000 chip. Dirmantas made the call.

The flop came 986 and Uvaydov checked. Dirmantas bet 25,000 and Uvaydov called. Both players revealed their hands.

Kuzmanovic Flops Top Two

David Uvaydov opened 400,000 under the gun and Boris Kuzmanovic defended the big blind.

The dealer spread a flop of J103, and Kuzmanovic check-raised a bet of 450,000 to 1,200,000. Uvaydov called.

The 4 fell on the turn, and Kuzmanovic continued for 1,700,000. Uvaydov tanked for a little over a minute before matching the bet.

When the 9 landed on the river, both players tapped the table and Kuzmanovic rolled J10 for top two pair and Uvaydov mucked his hand.

Alec Torelli raised to 400,000 from under the gun and Gediminas Dirmantas moved all in from the small blind. Torelli took some time before moving some of his 3,900,000 stack in to make the call.

Torelli was ahead and looking to hold, but the Dirmantas hit top pair on the 2K10 flop, with Torelli then calling for a "nine".

The turn came the 9, propelling Torelli back into the lead but bringing the diamond chop sweat.

The 8 river sealed the double for Torelli and Dirmantas lost a chunk of his stack.

Incredible Call for Dirmantas as He Takes a Bite out of Torelli

Gediminas Dirmantas opened 320,000 in middle position and Alec Torelli called in the cutoff before Aristeidis Moschonas defended the big blind.

The dealer spread a flop of K97, and the action checked to Torelli who fired 375,000 into the middle. Moschonas got out of the way, but Dirmantas made the call.

The 4 turn was checked through to see the 8 on the river. Dirmantas checked once more, and Torelli announced all-in as he slid two stacks of blues across the line. Dirmantas went into the tank, and eventually he splashed some chips across the line to call off his 2,455,000.

Torelli tossed his A10 in disgust and Dirmantas rolled A7 to win with a pair of sevens.
