Jaka Completes Comeback to Eliminate Soverel

Soverel held the lead with his king, but the Q♥6♠8♠ flop paired Jaka’s queen for a commanding lead.

The 6♥ turn and 9♥ river failed to improve Soverel. With that hand, Jaka, who was on the brink of elimination just a short while ago, advanced to the quarterfinals.

PokerNews caught up with Marko Grujic following the knockout of his opponent, Joseph Miller. Grujic recapped how the final hand played out.

In a limped pot, action went check-check on a flop of 8x7x5x. The turn brought a 3x, where Miller bet one big blind and Grujic called.

On the 5x river, Miller jammed for roughly 12 big blinds and Grujic called with 10x5x. Grujic's trips bested Miller's Jx8x, which booked him a ticket into Round 4.

Messere Finishes Kalas Off

Both players checked on the 9♥5♠6♥ flop and then Kalas led out for 25,000 on the 4♠ turn. Messere announced he was all in and Kalas quickly called all in for approximately 140,000 to put himself at risk.

Owen held the lead with a turned two pair, but would need to fade a lot of outs against Kalas’ opened-ended straight flush draw to go along with his pair of sixes.

The K♦ river bricked out for Kalas, however, eliminating him and sending Messere to the quarter finals.

Messere check-called bets of 19,000 and 44,000 on the flop and turn for the final board to read J♣J♦4♦A♦4♣.

Messere waited around 25 seconds before putting out a 20,000 block bet. Kalas quickly called and then mucked after Messere tabled K♠4♥ for a full house.

The following hand, Jaka opened to 25,000 and was called.

Soverel check-called for 25,000 on the K♠5♠4♥ flop, before folding to a bet of 80,000 on the J♣ turn.

Since finding a three-outer to double earlier on, it's been all Jaka in this duel.
