Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the eighth episode, Connor speaks with legendary UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer in an exclusive in-depth interview after Buffer's deep run in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 High Roller. Buffer, a longtime poker player, finished in eighth place for a career-best $212,423 after kicking off Day 3 with his trademark "it's time" introduction.
Buffer talked about finding his long-lost half-brother, Michael Buffer, and becoming his manager, the early days of the UFC, the similarities between poker and martial arts, his relationships with Joe Rogan and Dana White, playing poker with Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio and the time he injured himself in a poker tournament before announcing the biggest UFC fight in history.

Charles Hook, in the small blind, checked the action to Seth Davies, in the big blind. Davies thought on his decision for some time before placing a very sizeable bet of 1,770,000, an effective all-in with just 10,000 behind the line. Hook didn't take long to make a quick fold.

Brian Kim, in the big blind, checked the action to Adrian Mateos, in the cutoff. Mateos bet out for a sizable 620,000.
Kim thought on his decision before check-raising, moving all in for approximately 2,600,000, earning a snap-fold from Mateos.

Isaac Haxton opened to 130,000 from the cutoff before Jeremy Ausmus made it 320,000 from the button. The blinds got out of the way and Haxton jammed for around 1,700,000. Ausmus called as the slightly bigger stack.

Haxton continued for 120,000 on the flop of 7♥J♠6♥ and Ausmus raised to 380,000. Haxton laid it down.

The 6♠9♦8♦ flop checked through to the K♦ on the river. Eibinger checked to Jorstad, who bet out 250,000. Eibinger called.
The 10♥ checked through to a showdown. Eibinger tabled K♥J♥ for top pair, but was behind the K♣Q♥ of Jorstad.
