On a heads-up flop of 10♥Q♥2♦, Yunkyu Song checked, Juan Carlos Vecino bet 425,000, and Song called.
The turn came the 2♥ and Song check-called another bet from Vecino, this time for 825,000.
When the river fell the A♥, Song checked once more to Vecino, who then announced he was all in for around 3,000,000. Song then went deep into the tank for almost five minutes before he finally slid his cards to the dealer and the pot was pushed over to [Vecino.
Javier Gomez limped in from the small blind, Jared Kingery raised to 900,000 from the big blind and Gomez called.
Both players checked to the river as the full board now read 7♣9♥5♦K♦A♠. Gomez checked and Kingery put out a very delayed continuation of 1,000,000. Gomez made a quick call. Kingery tabled A♣5♣ for two pair, winning him this pot.
Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the eighth episode, Connor speaks with legendary UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer in an exclusive in-depth interview after Buffer's deep run in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 High Roller. Buffer, a longtime poker player, finished in eighth place for a career-best $212,423 after kicking off Day 3 with his trademark "it's time" introduction.
Buffer talked about finding his long-lost half-brother, Michael Buffer, and becoming his manager, the early days of the UFC, the similarities between poker and martial arts, his relationships with Joe Rogan and Dana White, playing poker with Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio and the time he injured himself in a poker tournament before announcing the biggest UFC fight in history.
This interview was filmed at the 2024 WSOP inside Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
Jared Kingery raised to 500,000 from the cutoff, Yunkyu Song three-bet to 1,300,000 from the button and Kingery responded with a four-bet to 2,500,000.
Song thought for some time before five-bet jamming for Kingery's effective stack of 8,950,000. Kingery beat Song into the pot.
Jared Kingery: A♥A♠
Yunkyu Song: A♦Q♥
The board ran out 4♦J♦6♠3♠J♥; Kingery's ace held at the right time to earn him the full double-up in this monster pot.
Jared Kingery raised to 500,000 from the cutoff and Javier Gomez defended in the big blind.
The 4♠9♣6♦ flop checked through to the 8♦ on the turn. Gomez took the lead for 600,000 and Kingery called.
The 10♦ river saw Gomez commit an additional 1,100,000 into the middle. Kingery thought on his decision for some time before putting in a raise to 3,000,000. Gomez went into the tank before electing to make the fold.
After a preflop betting war, Yunkyu Song moved all in and Juan Carlos Vecino called to put him at risk.
Yunkyu Song: K♥Q♥
Juan Carlos Vecino: A♠Q♣
Song would need some help to stay alive, and he sure got it as the flop of 4♠K♦9♠ gave him the lead with a pair of kings. The runout of 9♦3♥ changed nothing and Song scored the pot for the double.
