Arriving on a flop of 7♠8♥8♣ with just over 30,000 chips in the middle, James Palmer made a bet of 22,000 from the big blind and was called by Wing Po Liu in middle position and Nick Schulman in the hijack.
On the subsequent 10♠ turn, Palmer sized up to 80,000. Liu thought for a bit before surrendering his cards and Schulman quickly followed suit.
With around 60,000 chips already in the pot, the rest of Wesley Cooper's chips flew in on a turn of 6♦5♠7♥2♠. He was looked up by Yuval Bronshtein, who played the covering stack.
The river fell the J♥, missing Cooper's flush draw, which meant that Bronshtein's six-high straight awarded him the high half while chopping the low pot with Cooper, since both had A-3 for the nut low, getting him three quarters in total.
There was a three-way all in between Jared Bleznick, Joshua Pender and Christopher Yott. Bleznick had a chance to eliminate both players as he had the covering stack.
Joshua Pender: A♥Q♦J♠6♠3♥
Christopher Yott: A♠10♠9♣6♣2♦
Jared Bleznick: K♠K♣6♥3♠2♥
The board ran out A♣7♥7♣10♣10♦ and with no low possible, Yott scooped with tens-full-of-aces and virtually tripled up while Pender was eliminated.
Brian Rast and Nick Guagenti were also eliminated on an outer table.
Joao Vieira raised to 7,500 from the cutoff, with the player on the button being absent. Christian Harder defended his big blind and a flop of A♥K♠4♠ was dealt.
Harder checked, Vieira bet 9,000, and Harder called. On the 5♥ turn, Harder checked and Vieira checked behind after giving it some thought.
Harder then led out for 30,000 on the 7♣ river, sending Vieira into the tank. After a few minutes, he decided to raise to 75,000, receiving an instant fold from his opponent.
The action continues at the 2024 World Series of Poker today, with the continuation of Event #37: $10,000 Big O Championship. The first ten levels are in the books at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, where Wing Po Liu led the pack after Day 1.
A total of 300 entries were recorded on Day 1 with late registration remaining open for the first two levels of the play today. New entries will join the 108 surviving players at 1 p.m. local time to resume the battle in this championship event.
Liu worked his way to the top of the chip counts, bagging 583,000 on the opening day, but has plenty of company giving chase. Among the notable names inside the top ten are Dylan Weisman, Ryan Hughes, David WIlliams and Christian Harder.

In addition to late entries, there will be many other players to watch on Day 2, including Chad Eveslage. After finishing second in Event #19: $10,000 Limit Hold’em last week, Eveslage knows what it takes to navigate through such a talented field.
Play will resume in the Horseshoe Event Center, Silver & Gold sections at 1 p.m. local time, where players will return to blinds of 1,500/3,000. The schedule will see ten more 60-minute levels of play today.
