2024 World Series of Poker
Event #24: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship (8-Handed)
Dia 3 Iniciado
A starting field of 259 hopefuls has been reduced to just 13 going into Day 3 of Event #24: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship inside the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. They will all be chasing the top prize of $536,713 resulting from a $2,408,700 prize pool. Robert Tanita leads the pack after bagging up 2,990,000 last night, which is more than a million more than his next-closest competitor Joao Simao, who ended with 1,840,000.
Also still in contention are a pair of four-time bracelet winners — Yuri Dzivielevski (1,275,000) and Brad Ruben (565,000). Both players have seen massive success in mixed games and, interestingly, none of the duo’s combined eight bracelets have come from Hold’em events. Ruben won his last bracelet in a $1,500 Dealer’s Choice event back in 2022, while Dzivielevski’s most recent came from a $10,000 PLO event during the 2023 WSOP Online last September.

Here's a name you'd better start learning the rest of the summer — Darius Samual. That isn't a household name in poker yet, but it will be soon.
The poker player from England entered the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) with less than $100,000 in live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob. Twelve days into the series, there's an argument to be made that he's one of a few "players to beat" regarding WSOP Player of the Year.
And, here's what's really crazy — Samual gambled half his poker bankroll in one event just to get to this point.
Action folded around to the blinds, where Luis Velador raised to 90,000 from the small blind and Tyler Brown called from the big blind.
Velador check-called a 130,000 bet from Brown on the 7♥Q♣K♠ flop and then both players checked down on the A♥ turn and 9♦ river.
Velador tabled A♠7♠3♠2♥ for two pair and Brown mucked — conceding the pot to Velador.

Sterling Lopez potted to 105,000 from middle position and Sean Troha potted all in for 325,000 which Sterling called.
Sean Troha: A♠K♥Q♠4♦
Sterling Lopez: A♥J♠J♥5♣
The K♣6♦4♥5♥4♣ secured the double for Troha.
The very next hand, Sean Troha limped the cutoff and Joao Simao Peres checked his option in the big blind.
On the Q♥9♥3♠ flop, Troha bet 50,000, Simao potted to 255,000, and Troha jammed for 695,000, which was called.
Sean Troha: A♦Q♠Q♦2♥
Joao Simao: Q♣J♥8♥3♦
The J♦7♠ runout secured the second double for Troha

In the 835th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway is joined by poker pros Shaun Deeb and Josh Arieh, who fill in as special co-hosts at Level 9 in Las Vegas where the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is happening now!
Hear about how Fortnite helped them form Team Lucky alongside Matt Glantz and reigning WSOP Main Event champ Daniel Weinman, Arieh's Poker Stake venture, and their thoughts on the Poker Hall of Fame, including Scott Seiver's chances of getting in after he recently won his fifth gold bracelet.
They also weigh in on two hot topics from this week in poker — whether or not phones, spurred by solver software debates, and excessive masking should be allowed at poker tables.
Speaking of gold, Malcolm Trayner captured his first WSOP bracelet in Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions for $1,000,000, while two other players scored million-dollar bounties. Unfortunately, their reactions were a bit subdued, much to the dismay of many in the poker community.
That said, two other players had boisterous celebrations when they pulled six-figure bounties. See them all in the latest episode as well as a winner interview with Trayner.
Finally, learn about other bracelet winners such as David Prociak and Simeon Spasov, get an update on the $25K Fantasy league, and see Jack Binion walk the halls of the Horseshoe and reminisce about 55 years of the WSOP!
