Abes Extracts Value With a Staight

Greg Abes opened to 3,200 from the middle position and found calls from the button and the small blind.

The three players saw the dealer fan out a connected flop of 8♥9♣10♦. After the small blind checked, Abes put out a continuation bet of 3,500 which was only called by the button.

Abes continued the aggression on the J♦ turn by firing out 11,000. The button called again and they headed to the river.

When the board-pairing 10♣ came on the river, Abes fired the third and final bullet of 15,000. After some thinking the button made the call. Abes flipped over A♥Q♥ for a straight to take down a substantial pot and move over the 100,000 chip mark.

An exciting hand developed when the player in the under the gun position opened for 10,000. The player in middle position then three-bet to 25,000 and PokerNews's Connor Richards four-bet jammed his 26,200 stack. The under the gun player was then all in for 25,000 and middle position made the call.

When the hands were turned over under the gun had Q♠Q♥ All in , middle position had Q♣Q♦, and Richards had K♥K♣ All in .

The board ran out J♦2♥4♥ 4♠ 9♦ and Ricahrds's hand held for a much-needed double up.

When PokerNews arrived, there was already a lot of noise coming from the table. But we managed to catch the board showing 5♦8♣8♠5♠2♣, with a player from the middle position out of her seat and astonished that she would be exiting the tournament with 5♣5♥ for quads. Barry Goldberg was the player fortunate enough to have flopped quads with 8♦8♠.

Goldberg apologized to his opponent for the brutal cooler he had just inflicted on her, but he will surely be happy to be adding more chips to his already impressive chip stack.

As told to PokerNews by the players:
Jesse Fullen limped from early position with J♥10♥ and faced a raise from the player in late position of 2,500. Fullen flat called and a flop was imminent.

The flop came out K♥XxXx and Fullen checked and the late position player bet 2,500. Fullen made the call.

The turn brought the J♣ which now gave Fullen a pair but both players checked.

Fullen's trips arrived on the river with the J♦ and Fullen checked to the raiser who bet 4,000. Fullen then moved all in for 26,000. The late position player tanked for awhile and then called tabling A♣A♦. Fullen's trips were good and he scored a massive pot.

The flop came out 8♥2♣4♦ and Hewitt bet 6,000. The middle position player called.

The turn was 5♦, and Hewitt bet 45,000. After debating momentarily, the middle-position player folded, and Hewitt added to his sizable chip stack.

The under the gun player, Paul Miller in middle position, the hijack player, and cutoff player all checked the flop of 8♣J♥8♦ to see the board-pairing J♠ come on the turn. This time the player from under the gun took the initiative in the hand and fired out a bet of 7,000. He only got called by the Miller in middle position.

When the river came the 2♠ both players checked and Miller turned over A♣K♠ for ace-high to take down a substantial pot.
