Heads-up after the turn with the board showing 9363, David Fhima bet 2,500 into a swelling pot of 4,500. The action was on Georgios Sotiropoulos, who made the call to see the 7 on the river.

The action then went check-check and Fhima flipped over A3 for trip threes and Sotiropoulos quickly mucked to award him the pot.

Rice Wins with Golden Sixes

The player in the hijack put in a raise of 300 and the button, Richard Rice, and big blind came along for the flop 325. The hijack placed the continuation bet of 500 and both players called.

The 8 on the turn was checked to Rice, who bet 1,100. The big blind called and the hijack folded.

Both players checked the river Q and Rice turned over 66 and the big blind mucked, saying, "Oh sixes, you are golden."

On the 6 turn Weinand continued down the betting path and placed a bet of 500, which was called.

The river 3 induced another bet of 2,000 and the call was received. Weinand turned over 76 for a full house and the big blind showed one card the 7.

Kwatra Takes a Quick Pot with Turn Bet

With three players seeing a flop of 994, Christopher Wicher led out for 3,500 from the big blind and was called by Rohit Kwatra in the cutoff while Colin Phoenix folded from the small blind.

The turn came the 5 and Wicher decided to check to Kwatra, who fired for 6,000 and Wicher promptly folded.

The Q turn induced a bet of 1,200 from the early position player and Vecchio made the call.

Both players checked the Q on the river. Vecchio showed AJ and the early position player mucked.

Day 1 kicks off in Event #79: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em, with play of this three-day event beginning at 10 a.m. local time at Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas. The second-year event at the 2023 World Series of Poker is sure to attract a star-studded field.

Last year, Sebastien Aube endured three long days of play in the debut edition of this event which was stacked with notables. Aube bested a field of 1,364 entries in 2022 to take home a first-place prize of $499,636 and the coveted WSOP gold bracelet.

Just like the rest of the series, this event is expected to break records and with a lot of notable players still looking to capture their first WSOP bracelet of the summer.

Players will begin with 35,000 in chips with blinds starting at 100/100 and a 100 big blind ante. Blinds will increase every 40 minutes with a 15-minute break after every three levels. A 75-minute dinner break will begin after Level 12 at approximately 7 p.m. and registration will close at the end of that break (approximately 8:15 p.m.). The remaining players will play until Level 18 before bagging up for Day 2.
