Fans are welcome to come to celebrate the life of the late poker legend Doyle Brunson at Horseshoe Las Vegas on July 2 at 11:30 a.m.
Many high-profile poker players will speak at the memorial, which will take place inside the Jubilee Theater near the Horseshoe poker room, about a two-minute walk from the World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournament area.
Brunson, a 10-time WSOP bracelet winner and 1988 Poker Hall of Fame inductee, passed away last month at 89. He left behind quite a legacy in poker and will forever be remembered as one of the all-time greats.
Some former Brunson opponents and long-time friends such Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, and Dewey Tomko will speak at the event. Jack Binion, former owner of Binion's Horseshoe, the original site of the WSOP, will also give a speech.
No-Limit 5-Card Draw High
As the table was momentarily distracted by a player who had busted out of the Colossus yelling, "I'm 52 and I can take any of you!" and then dancing in the doorway for five minutes, the action heated up.
Toby Lewis raised to 800 from middle position, Patrick Leonard reraised to 3,100, the button went all in for 7,200, and the big blind re-jammed for 12,000. Lewis five-bet shoved for 40,000, and Leonard folded.
Lewis patted, and the button and big blind each drew two. Lewis fanned out a king-high flush, the big blind threw away his trip tens, and the button mucked. Lewis scooped up a big pot, as the other two joined the Colossus dancer on his way to the exit.
Pot-Limit Omaha
Joseph Couden called from the small blind, Louis Barlow raised it to 800 and Couden called. The flop came Q♣J♦8♠ and Barlow continued for 1,000.
Each player checked the 5♠ turn, then Couden took the lead, betting 1,700 on the 2♦ river. Barlow folded, and Couden took it down.
In the latest episode of The Chad & Jesse Poker Show, Chad Holloway and Jesse Fullen do a new "Calling the Clock" segment in which they offer quick two-minute dialogues for topics on “The Board.”
Here's a look at this episode's topics:
No-Limit Hold'em
Action caught up with Matthew Ashton putting in a pre-flop raise to 12,000 from the small blind against an early position player, who made the call.
Both players checked the 10♥9♠Q♣ flop and Ashton got the fold with a 5,500 chip turn bet after the dealer put out the A♣.
Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw
After a pot-limit Omaha hand that saw Loi Phan nearly triple up when he hit top set over another player's middle set and a thirds' straight flush draw on a J♠6♥10♠ flop, the action switched to pot-limit 2-7 triple draw.
Ryan Johnson raised 600 from under the gun and Jon Shoreman called from the big blind. Each player drew two, then one, and then Shoreman moved all in for his remaining 8,000, and Johnson folded, saying, "I have all the sevens!" and showed three of them.
"And I have all the eights," replied Shoreman with a smile, showing two of them.
