Major Heater for Obst

Nível 17 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
James Obst
James Obst

Action was picked up on the river. There was about 170,000 in the pot and players were heads up on a board reading 37294. James Obst had moved all in for 199,000 from the big blind, putting Justin Liberto deep into the tank.

After a couple minutes, Liberto put in the call with a covering stack. Obst tabled 109 for top pair while Liberto, who had K4 for a bluff catcher, was forced to concede the massive pot to Obst. According to the players at the table, Obst had defended his big blind versus a 28,000 open. Obst check-called 13,000 on the flop, then led out for 47,000 on the turn, before moving all in on the river.

The next hand Obst opened to 20,000 from the cutoff and Pejman Niyati moved all in for about 120,000. Obst made the call to put Niyati at risk.

Pejman Niyati: KJ
James Obst: 1010

Obst was well ahead on the 6J10 flop with middle set. The Q turn gave Niyati some outs to the broadway straight, but they never materialized on the 7 river and he was sent to the rail while Obst collected his chips.

Meanwhile, at another table, Chris Brewer could be seen getting up from his seat having just been eliminated from the tournament,
