"You Run So F***ing Pure": Schulman Doubles Through Katz

Nick Schulman
Nick Schulman

In a heads-up pot between the blinds, Nick Schulman checked on the flop of 5Q10 and Cary Katz bet 19,000. Schulman check-raised for most of his stack and Katz three-bet to put the recent Seven Card Stud Championship winner at risk. Schulman called.

Nick Schulman: KJ75
Cary Katz: KQJ9

"I'm in bad shape," Katz said despite having the best hand as the 2 landed on the turn.

"Now you're in really bad shape," Schulman said after making the flush before the A river earned him the double.

"You run so f***ing pure," Katz said to Schulman as the four-time bracelet winner raked in the pot.

Screw It!

Nível 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

On a heads-up flop of A6Q, Keith Lehr led out for 12,000 and the action was then on his opponent, Daniel Negreanu.

"Ok, so if he's got three aces and the nut flush draw, he's not there yet, I call!" He exclaimed as he tossed in the chips.

The turn then came the Q and the action was on Lehr.

"All of it," he announced as he put the rest of his stack in, covering Negreanu.

"Why did you bet all of it? You know I'm not going to fold," Negreanu began to engage in some table talk with his opponent.

After some more back-and-forth, Negreanu finally made the call to put himself at risk.

"You there already? Because I am," Negreanu asked as he tabled his cards and got his vlog camera ready.

"Nope," Lehr replied as he did the same, minus the camera.

Daniel Negreanu: 7664
Keith Lehr: AJ99

"Ok no nine, no queen!" Negreanu shouted at the board, which completed with a safe 10 to give him the win for the double-up while Lehr was now the one left short.

"I was seriously considering folding that!" Negreanu said, "But then I was like, screw it!"

Ivey bet 20,000 on the A turn and only Mark Berente called. Ivey then checked on the 4 river and Berente checked back.

Ivey tabled A2 for aces and deuces, but it was no good against the better two pair of Berente with A995.

Jesse Lonis

Joao Vieira was in the big blind in a heads-up pot against under-the-gun opponent Jesse Lonis on a board of 10K2A5.

With around 150,000 already in the middle, Lonis bet 65,000 to leave himself just a single 1,000-chip behind. Vieira went deep into the tank and used all four of his time banks before landing on a call.

Lonis defeatedly tabled QQ109 for just a pair of queens and Vieira showed the winner with AKQ7 for aces and kings.

On a three-way flop of 3610, short-stacked Jason Mercier moved all in and Cary Katz made the call while Nick Schulman got out of the way.

"Ok, at least you don't have a flush draw," Mercier said as the dealer prepared the cards, with both players showing a pair of tens, but Katz with the superior kicker.

The board ran out QA to give Katz two pair on the river to win the pot, busting Mercier.

"Noooo, that is not how I wanted that to go," he groaned as he wished the table good luck and made his exit.

Wang Gets There on River; Veneziano Fires Again

Michael Wang
Michael Wang

After a preflop betting war, Steven Veneziano moved all in and Michael Wang made the call, putting himself at risk.

Steven Veneziano: AA45
Michael Wang: QJJ6

Steven Veneziano was in good shape to win a pot with his pocket aces, and the flop of 10A7 was very favorable for him as he flopped top set. Unfortunately, the runout of 9K gave Wang the gutshot straight on the river to scoop the huge pot.

Selbst Is Out

Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

Vanessa Selbst made her first WSOP appearance since 2017 in the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller, but unfortunately, it was short-lived.

Selbst played a big pot against Quan Zhou and got all her chips in the middle before losing to Zhou's full house as the Chinese high roller now sits with a stack of around 400,000.

Sebst, who spoke to PokerNews earlier this year about her return to live poker, was momentarily seated by fellow poker star Phil Ivey, who now sits with an empty seat to his right.
