Vielhak Eliminated by Smith

Nível 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Richard Vielhak was spotted on his way out of the tournament area after the final hand of the level while his large stack was pushed over by one seat. The board and cards of Dan Smith, who won the pot, were still showing.

On a board of {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}, the {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} of Smith were good enough for jacks full and Ali Eslami confirmed that Vielhak had ended up second best with pocket queens. While Smith already has a decent stack, Eslami tops that by a significant margin.

Michael Mcnicholas followed shortly after and that reduced the field to just 65 contenders after four levels on Day 2.

Dow(n) But Not Out

Nível 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Down to the last 26,000 in chips, Christopher Dow got it in with the {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. He was looked up by Raul Garza with the inferior {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and there was just a small sweat after both paired their kicker on the {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop. Neither the {4-Diamonds} turn nor the {7-Spades} river was a threat and Dow doubled.

Several others were not as fortunate as the money bubble is approaching in rapid fashion.

Overbet Wins it for Smith

Nível 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Dan Smith opened from the cutoff and Taylor Grassmick defended from the big blind.

Grassmick checked on the flop of {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and Smith bet 8,000. Grassmick called. Grassmick checked again on the {10-Clubs} turn and Smith checked back.

The river brought the {8-Clubs} and Grassmick checked a third time. Smith took a moment before betting 50,000 for a big overbet and he held his hands up in meditation as Grassmick thought through a decision. Grassmick folded after about a minute.

On the tail end of a heads-up pot to the {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} river, Michael Bohmerwald paid off a bet worth 32,000 by Benjamin Kaupp. He was shown the {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a flush and that won the pot for Kaupp, who further boosted his already impressive stack.

In the meanwhile, another table broke was the field was whittled down to the last 72 contenders. Among others, Cheryl Svenson vanished from the tournament area and came up shy of the money.

Kincade Cracks Smith's Aces

Nível 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Calvin Kincade was all in for 142,000 against Ryan Smith, who had him covered.

Calvin Kincade: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Ryan Smith: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

"Ah! Really?" Kincade reacted when he saw he was up against aces.

The flop of {10-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} gave Kincade an open-ended straight draw and then {9-Spades} on the turn gave him the straight. To add insult to injury for Smith, the river brought the {a-Diamonds} to give Kincade a better straight to double up.

"Oh my. Sorry, man," Kincade said after getting the unlikely double.

Bissinger Continues to Boost Big Stack

Nível 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Three ways to the {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, Ray Carter in the small blind checked and so did Brent Bogdanovecz, who then called a bet worth 4,000 by the current chip leader Christopher Bissinger. Carter got out of the way and the {5-Diamonds} turn was checked.

On the {10-Spades} river, Bogdanovecz bet 6,000 and called a raise to 15,000 by Bissinger, who revealed the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} for the nut flush. "Of course," Bogdanovecz revealed as he briefly exposed the {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for trips tens.
