Double-Knockout for Weinman; Jorstad Also Eliminated

Nível 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Espen Jorstad
Espen Jorstad

The board was all but rushed away as Daniel Weinman raked in the pot with the {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, having beaten the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} of Brian Luo and the {a-}{4-} of Jonathan Pastore to leap up on the leaderboard.

On a king-high board, Weinman rivered a straight to score the double knockout.

One table over, the 2022 WSOP Main Event champion Espen Jorstad was all-in for the last 5,500 from under the gun. Clement Cure then pushed all-in for 27,000 and Alex Kulev jammed in the cutoff, all other players folded.

Espen Jorstad: {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Clement Cure: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Alex Kulev: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Jorstad was eliminated while Cure doubled through Kulev. With the Irishman being left on a short stack as a result, those last few chips vanished shortly after as the next high-profile casualty on Day 2 ensued.

Smidinger Cools Off Messick

Nível 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Eric Smidinger opened to 4,000 and Ryan Messick called. Smidinger bet on the flop of {6-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Messick raised to 14,000. Smidinger moved all in for 53,000 and Messick called with a bigger stack.

Eric Smidinger: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Ryan Messick: {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

Smidinger had flopped bottom set against the top two pair of Messick and his set held up as the board finished out {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

"I'm glad you didn't have a flush draw," Smidinger said after the third club hit.

Barbero Felted by Richards

Nível 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

From an early position, Christopher Bissinger raised to 6,000 and Nacho Barbero then pushed for around 60,000 from one seat over. The action folded all the way to Jessica Richards and she also moved all-in as well, forcing out Bissinger in an instant.

Nacho Barbero: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Jessica Richards: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

One of the most classic flips saw Richards pull ahead on the {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop and she retained the lead on the {5-Spades} turn. "Black deuce!" she demanded but the {4-Clubs} came on the river instead. "Black deuce and we chop," Richards added in table chat after it was all over and while the stacks were counted. Richards had 62,000 at her disposal and that covered Barbero by a very small margin.

Eslami Hits Quads; Smith's Bad Luck Continues

Nível 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Ali Eslami
Ali Eslami

Ali Eslami opened in early position and Daniel Strelitz flat-called in the small blind. Spencer Smith took the opportunity to three-bet jam a stack of 42,500 from the big blind and Eslami four-bet to 95,000. Strelitz folded.

Ali Eslami: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Spencer Smith: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Smith was in trouble as he had run into kings and the flop of {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} improved Eslami to a set.

"That's not good," reacted Smith.

The {8-Diamonds} on the turn created some sweat potential as Smith picked up a gutshot straight draw but the {k-Clubs} arrived on the river to give Eslami quads to eliminate Smith, who won two Circuit rings earlier this year at WSOPC Cherokee for a total of $214,571.

"I NEVER WIN ANYTHING!!!" the two-time ring winner yelled sarcastically as players and floor staff erupted in laughter.

Shea Takes From Alderman With River Bet

Nível 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Stephanie Alderman opened from under the gun and Jack Shea made it 8,000 from the button. William Davidson called from the big blind and Alderman tossed in the chips to come along.

The flop was {2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and action checked to Shea on the button. Shea bet 12,500 and both players called to see {6-Spades} on the turn.

All three players checked the turn and {k-Spades} was the river. Action checked to Shea again and he fired 30,000.

Davidson folded and Alderman thought it over before the announced the call. Shea showed the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for a rivered pair of kings and Alderman tossed the losing hand into the muck.

Iannace Doubles Through Chatman

Nível 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Christopher Chatman clashed with Michael Iannace and the latter was the player at risk in the following preflop contest.

Michael Iannace: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Christopher Chatman: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop was a scary one as it gave Chatman the nut flush draw to go with his two live cards. Nothing changed on the {3-Clubs} turn and {k-Clubs} river as Iannace doubled for 33,000. "I did not feel comfortable at any point during this hand, not even on the river," Iannace joked with a smile on the face.

Yeh Wins With the Superior Kicker

Nível 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

On the tail end of a completed board of {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Clubs}, Gianluca Speranza had tossed in a green T-25,000 chip for a bet and that represented a large portion of the short stack of Andrew Yeh. Eventually, Yeh tossed in a single yellow chip for the call and Speranza tabled the {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, which Yeh had beat with the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

Ponakovs Out-Flops Seymour; Big Hero-Call from Alikhani

Nível 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Abbas Alikhani
Abbas Alikhani

Zachary Seymour opened to 6,000 from under the gun and Aleksejs Ponakovs three-bet from the cutoff. Seymour called when the action folded around.

Seymour checked on the flop of {2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Ponakovs checked back. Seymour then led out for 27,000 on the {3-Spades} turn and Ponakovs called.

Seymour checked on the {7-Clubs} river and Ponakovs checked back. Seymour shrugged before showing {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} for ace-high, while Ponakovs showed {k-Spades}{9-Spades} to win the pot with a pair of nines after the frisky preflop raise.

"What a play! And he three-bets and get my set out," said Taylor Grassmick.

The very next hand, Ponakovs got to the river against Abbas Alikhani on a board of {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. With around 60,000 in the middle, Ponakovs moved all in to put Alikhani at risk with his stack of 59,000.

"Bluff-catcher. That's all I have," Alikhani said as he contemplated a call.

Eventually, Alikhani tossed in his stack for the call. Ponakovs showed a bluff with {j-Clubs}{9-Spades} for jack-high and Ponakovs revealed {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} to show he made a big call for his tournament life with third pair.

"Back in the game!" Alikhani cheered as he raked in the pot.
