England’s Harry “timexCNT” Lodge came from behind in heads-up play on early Monday morning to defeat Andrew “RobertB14” Robl and win the $7,777 Lucky 7’s No-Limit Hold’em High Roller at the 2022 World Series of Poker for $396,666.

The online high-stakes tournament drew 161 runners and the top thirty players took home their share of a $1,463,023 prize pool.

Lodge took home his first bracelet after a previous career-best third-place finish in the 2017 $888 Crazy Eights event. This is Lodge’s ninth cash of the 2022 WSOP and the largest score of his career.

Final Table Action

The champ went into the final table with the chip lead, but Robl quickly jumped ahead with the surprise elimination of Mike “YagamiLight” Watson in sixth place. Watson shoved with ace-king, but Robl turned over pocket aces to take the pot and the commanding chip lead.

David “dpeters17” Peters and Daniel “DLAZ14” Lazrus duked it out in the final five, and Lazrus doubled through Peters twice to leave the four-time bracelet winner short. However, Peters spiked a river to double through Daniel “DNegs” Negreanu with a straight and it was the six-time bracelet winner who hit the rail in fifth place when Robl beat his pocket jacks with ace-eight.

Peters continued on to manage back-to-back doubles before finally bowing out in fourth place when his ace-five was no good against Lodge's ace-king.

Lodge and Robl battled for the opportunity to send Lazrus home in third place, but it was Robl that prevailed when his king-eight caught up to pocket queens. The elimination gave Robl more than 3.6 million in chips in heads-up play against Lodge with just 1.3 million.

The tide quickly turned however when Lodge made a flush and cashed in on Robl’s big river bluff. The big moment came a short time later when Lodge turned over ace-king to beat Robl’s queen-jack.

Other notable players that made a deep run include Dario “Sirio87” Sammartino, who finished just outside the final table in seventh. Darren “kingstayking” Elias held the chip lead at different points in the early part of the day, but he eventually finished in 10th place. Adrian “Poker4202” Mateos was also an early chip leader, and he ran all the way to 18th place.

Congratulations to Harry Lodge on winning the $7,777 Lucky 7’s High Roller at the 2022 WSOP!
