Gollins Takes Big from Andrews

Nível 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Christina Gollins raised to 125,000 in early position and got a call by Cherish Andrews in the hijack.

The flop came {5-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Gollins continued for 200,000. Andrews quickly called and an {a-Spades} fell on the turn. Gollins fired 575,000 into the pot and after some thinking, Andrews called.

The {3-Clubs} completed the board and both checked. Gollins tabled {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and it was good enough to make Andrews muck her cards and scoop the pot.

Westermann Takes From Andrews

Nível 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

A preflop raise from Cherish Andrews in the small blind to 130,000 got a caller from big blind, Felisa Westermann. The flop came down {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Andrews check-called Westermann's 100,000 bet.

The turn was a {q-Hearts} which Andrews bet 300,000 and received a call form Westermann.

On the river was a {6-Hearts} and both players checked and showed their hands. Andrews flipped {8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for eight-high and Westermann showed {a-Hearts}{4-Spades} to take down the pot with two pair, aces and queens.

2022 WSOP Featured Females: Meet Wendeen Eolis, 1st Woman to Ever Cash Main Event

Nível 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Wendeen Eolis
Wendeen Eolis

In the mid 1980’s, women were considered no factor in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, and other than the famous rounder and professional gambler Thomas “Amarillo Slim” Preston, poker players rarely made headlines in the mainstream press. That all changed when Wendeen Eolis became the first woman to cash at poker’s “Big Dance.”

In the 1986 WSOP Main Event, Eolis battled some of the best players in the world, including Amarillo Slim, in a field of 141 runners. She was on her way to a 25th-place finish for a $10,000, return on her buy-in, and permanent bragging rights as the first woman in history to cash in the WSOP Main Event.

Eolis attributes her 1986 WSOP performance to a year of poker tutoring from one of the best, a “relatively” conservative game plan, and cooperative cards. She told PokerNews, “Even today, women can win more by bluffing less than men.”

Nugyen Takes it Down

Nível 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Preflop action had Lynh Nguyen raising to 125,000 from middle position and Sandy Tran calling from the big blind. A {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} came on the flop and Tran check-called Nguyen's 125,000 bet.

The turn was a {10-Clubs} and once again Tran checked to Nguyen. Nguyen fired out a 175,000 bet and Tran thought about it before calling.

An {a-Diamonds} showed up on the river and they both checked and flipped over their cards. Tran had {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for a missed open ended straight on the flop. Nguyen had {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} which was good to take down the pot.

Hof Doubles Through Le

Nível 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Julie Le raised to 125,000 and Natalie Hof decided to shove in the hijack for 610,000. It came back to Le who tanked a minute and made the call:

Natalie Hof: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Julie Le: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Hof had to win the flip to stay in the tournament, and found a board {10-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Clubs} to give her a straight on the turn and the needed double up.
