Event #5: The Housewarming No-Limit Hold'em Continues With Day 1b

The action starts today with Day 1b of Event #5: The Housewarming No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 World Series of Poker in its new home at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas. This is the second of four starting flights, to be followed by Day 1c on Saturday and Day 1d on Sunday, before remaining players will merge for Day 2 on Monday, June 6th.

The guarantee for the event is $5,000,000 and that number is fully expected to be smashed, come the end of registration on Day 1d. The Day 1a action concluded with $1,416,600 contributed to the prize pool from 3,373 entrants, with 147 of those players advancing to Day 2.

As one of the lower buy-in tournaments of the series, it gives the opportunity to both casual and serious players to come together and battle it out for one of the first World Series of Poker bracelets of the summer.

Twenty-two levels will be played today or they will play down to 15% of the field, depending on which is later. Levels are 30 minutes long with breaks after every four and a 90-minute dinner break starting around 6:00 p.m. local time. If eliminated before registration closes at roughly 4 p.m., players can also opt to reenter once per flight.

Early Pot for Westmoreland

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

With the board reading {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} at the turn, the small blind checked to Bennett Westmoreland in the big blind who fired 3,000, which was called.

The {6-Spades} river paired the board, which did not deter Westmoreland as he again bet 3,000. His opponent called and revealed {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for a straight. Westmoreland tabled {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a flush and scooped in an early pot.

Braxton's Setting the Pace Early in the Day

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

On a board of {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{q-Spades} Terrance ''Black Dog'' Braxton bet 7,000 into a pot of 9,000 from the big blind against the under-the-gun player. His opponent ended up letting his hand go and Braxton turned over his {10-}{10-} for the set, the win, and a medium-sized pot to kick things off today.

Braxton, a Florida native, then turned to PokerNews staff and showed off his ''Never Fold'' hoodie.

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Diaz's Flop Raise Takes Down Five-Handed Pot

Nível 2 : 200/300, 300 ante

The under-the-gun player led out for 600 and the player to his left called. Action folded to Roger Diaz in the cutoff, who also called. The button and big blind flatted as well, making it five players to the flop, which came {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}.

A continuation bet from the under-the-gun player came in to the tune of 1,100. His immediate left again called, bringing action back to Diaz. After a moment, he tossed in a red 5,000 chip and announced his raise to 4,500. This barrel was too large for the rest of the table, as all four players quickly folded, giving Diaz a nice early pot.
