White Busted Before the Money

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action was caught on a {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts} board.

John White checked, Giuseppe Niro bet 25,000, and White check-raised him all in to 91,000. Niro thought about his hand for a moment before making the call.

John White: {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Giuseppe Niro: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

White made the straight on the turn and Niro was looking for a club to complete a flush. The river was the {8-Clubs} giving Niro the flush and the pot. White was eliminated.

"I put myself in a tuff spot", commented Niro.

"You have to run good to win a tournament," said another player at the table.

Bubble Approaching

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

With 1,079 players being paid, we are closing in on the bubble with fewer than 1,100 players remaining . There are only eight minutes remaining in the level, so the bubble could burst after the players take their first 30-minute break of the day.

Bounahra Cracks Kings, Doubles Up to Nearly 350,000

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Badih Bob Bounahra
Badih Bob Bounahra

Bob Bounahra, who finished in seventh place in the 2011 WSOP Main Event, opened to 7,000 from the hijack and the small blind three-bet to 21,500. Bounahra called.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades} and the small blind continued for 40,000. Bounahra then raised to 110,000, leaving only 36,000 chips behind. The small blind believed that this was an all-in raise and said "call", turning over his hand.

The floor was called to address the situation and after about two minutes, it was ruled a face-up call and both players declared they would be in for Bounahra's final 36,000 chips regardless on the turn.

The {8-Diamonds} arrived on the turn and each player put in 36,000 chips to make it a massive 341,000-chip pot.

Bob Bounahra: {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Small Blind: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Bounahra was way ahead of the small blind's pocket kings with trip sevens and a flush draw.

The river brought the {3-Spades} and finally ended the lengthy hand, with the chips being shoved in Bounahra's direction.

Liebeler Makes the Wrong Move, Savitt Has Him Out-Kicked

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action was caught on a {5-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop between Eric Liebeler and Sidney Savitt, both in the blinds.
The flop came {5-Spades}{j-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Liebeler forced Savitt to play for his life tournament on this hand.

Eric Liebeler: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Sidney Savitt: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Both players had top pair on this flop, but Savitt had the best kicker. The turn {2-Diamonds} and the river {8-Clubs} completed the double up for Savitt.

Vancil Gets Knockout

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action for this hand was picked up as each player's chip stack was being counted, but Craig Vancil and another player at the table were kind enough to provide PokerNews with the details after the fact.

The under-the-gun player limped, as did the cutoff, before Craig Vancil put in a raise to 12,000 on the button. The blinds got out of the way before the under-the-gun player reraised to 32,000. The cutoff folded and Vancil moved all in. His opponent called and they were off to the races.

Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Craig Vancil: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Vancil was behind only briefly, as the {3-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop paired his ace. The {10-Diamonds} turn changed nothing and the {a-Diamonds} river improved Vancil to a full house, securing himself the pot.

The dealer then began to count each player's stack, as they were quite close and it wasn't clear if Vancil had his opponent covered. After a bit of counting, Vancil's total came to 98,000. The dealer then moved on to count the opponent's stack. After a count and a recount, it was confirmed that his opponent had a stack of 97,500, a single 500 chip short of Vancil. The opponent promptly headed for the rail while Vancil scooped the pot which put him over the 200,000 mark.

Abecassis Wins the Battle of the Blinds

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Everybody folded to Bob Bounahra in the small blind, who raised it to 7,000. In the big blind, Michel Abecassis called.

Then on a {4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop, Bounahra checked and Abecassis bet 7,000. He was called and the two players went to the turn {4-Hearts}. Bounahra pointed a single finger as a check, and Abecassis bet another 18,500. This time, it was enough for Bounahra who just folded and Michel Abecassis took the pot.

With Humberto Brenes in the big blind with just 15 big blinds behind, the small blind, who barely covered him, went all in.

Brenes took his time before wagging his finger and saying "Not today, my friend" before folding {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} face up.

The two-time WSOP champion has had a rough start to the day after beginning play with 107,000.

Avne's Aces Double Up vs. Kings

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The under-the-gun player opened and Jonathan Avne shoved his final 48,500 from late position. His opponent snap-called.

Jonathan Avne: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Under the Gun: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} to give Avne the full double-up and take him over the 100,000-chip mark.

Avne was excited to tell PokerNews that he knocked out 2015 WSOP Main Event champion Joe McKeehen in last year's Main Event.

Up And Down For Goetze

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

On a {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, Jonathan Goetze was all in against Shianguu Hsieh.

Jonathan Goetze: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Shianguu Hsieh: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

A flush draw against an overpair, a classic confrontation. After the {7-Diamonds} on the turn, which completed the flush for Goetze, the dealer completed that board with an irrelevant {5-Clubs}.

It has been a hectic start to the day for Jonathan Goetze who already doubled up Krisha Augerot few minutes earlier.

McMillan Will Fight For His Title

Nível 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Robert MacMillan
Robert MacMillan

In early position, Robert McMillan limped it. Barry Greenstein is just on his left and he folded, like almost all the players.

Carl Oman completed his small blind and Graig Vancil checked in the big blind. Then on a {3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop, McMillan bet 8,500 and both players folded. Robert McMillan took the pot.

While he was stacking his chips, a player from another table just came and said to McMillan "hey, congrats for the tournament!"

Then, on his table, Judith Bielan just asked, "Did you win something big ?" and McMillan just answered her by pointing his finger on the table. He is still the defending champion, until the end of this tournament.
