Welcome to Day 1 of Event #46: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed at the 2022 World Series of Poker. The event will be kicking off at 3:00 p.m. PT today at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.

The reigning champion for this event is Scott Ball who defeated a field of 604 entries to make it out on top to receive the first place prize of $562,667 and his first gold WSOP bracelet. After a long heads-up battle last year that saw Ball behind in chips 2-1 against Galen Hall, he eventually regained the chip lead and solidified his victory by hitting a nut flush draw against Hall’s second nut flush.

Players will begin this four-day event with a starting stack of 50,000 chips and blinds at 100/200/200. They will play 60-minute levels with a 15-minute break every 2 levels before calling it a day to bag their chips after Level 10. Late registration is open until the start of Day 2, Wednesday, June 22nd, at 2:00 p.m. PT.

Stay tuned in to PokerNews for the live reporting updates from this event up until a new WSOP champion is crowned.

Lima Chips Up Early On

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Brazil's Carlos Lima was in the cutoff facing an all in shove for 28,700 from an opponent in the small blind. The board read {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Lima sat in the tank for about two minutes before finally deciding to call.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Carlos Lima: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Lima's call was correct as he caught his opponent in a bluff with ace-high and won the hand with a straight to the jack, sending his opponent out of the tournament about halfway through Level 1.

Brewer Turn Bet Gets Hallaert To Fold

Nível 2 : 200/300, 300 ante
Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer

With action on Kenny Hallaert in the small blind, he made it 800 and Chris Brewer in the big blind responded with a raise to 2,200. Hallaert made the call and they were off to a flop.

{a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} fell and Hallaert checked to the aggressor. He made it 1,500 and got called by the Belgium player that's based out of London.

On the {7-Diamonds} turn card, with action checked back on Brewer, who's sporting his instantly recognisable mullet, he bet 6,000.

Hallaert pondered his decision for 30 seconds before throwing his hand into the muck.
