Thi Truong Wins Event #74: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha ($215,938)
Enrico "GTOExploiter" Camosci came one spot away from being the second player to collect two bracelets in the GGPoker portion of the 2020 World Series of Poker online. However, it wasn't to be, as Thi "HoneyandTHI" Truong staved off any hope of a heads-up comeback to resign Camosci to second place.
Truong collected her first bracelet and $215,938 plus a ticket to the WSOP Europe. She topped a field of 972 and a final table that included the likes of Sean Winter, Kyle "johnmarbles" Bowker, Joao "naturalMENTE" Simao and Laurynas Levinskas.
Place | Player | Country | Prize |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Thi Truong | Canada | $215,938* |
2 | Enrico Camosci | Italy | $165,414 |
3 | Dante Goya | Brazil | $120,041 |
4 | Joao Simao | Brazil | $87,113 |
5 | Laurynas Levinskas | Lithuania | $63,218 |
6 | Kyle Bowker | USA | $45,877 |
7 | Frank Crivello | USA | $33,293 |
8 | Sean Winter | USA | $24,160 |
9 | Johannes Toebbe | Germany | $17,533 |
Truong made a huge call for her stack on the final table bubble that proved to be the turning point in his tournament. Big stack Antti "Botripper" Nieminen attempted to bluff him by setting him in for about two-thirds pot on a board with a potential low straight and a pair. Truong found the call button with aces and was shown an empty bluff with just a straight blocker.
That pot powered Truong to the chip lead heading to the nine-handed final table and she didn't waste the opportunity.
After a couple of early eliminations including American high roller Sean Winter, Truong got lucky against fellow big stack Frank Crivello, who had already collected one bracelet in PLO on GGPoker. Crivello squeezed for almost half of his chips with kings after three players entered the pot, and Truong decided to make him earn it after everyone else folded. When Truong's double-paired hand turned into a set, Crivello went bust and Truong had almost half of the chips six-handed.
The cards were with Truong when it got short-handed. After she busted the dangerous Simao with a live single-suited hand, Truong's jacks topped Dante Goya's queens to get her heads up against Camosci.
Camosci had already secured a bracelet in the $2,100 Bounty Championship, but the nut wrap failed to come home against aces when he had a chance to get back in it.
With a few weekend tournaments ahead and the $25K final table to be played, it will be a busy weekend on GGPoker and at PokerNews covering all the goings-on. Be sure to monitor all of the action here throughout the weekend.
