5 Things You Don’t Know About the WSOP Online on GGPoker

Now through the first part of September, the WSOP Online will be exclusively on GGPoker, so whether you're playing on the client for the first time or you're a seasoned online pro, we thought we'd bring you five things you didn't know about the WSOP Online on GGPoker.

  • 1. STAKING on DAY 2:
Poker fans and players can now buy a piece of their favourite player's action or sell their own should they survive Day 1 of phased tournaments.
  • 2. Convert Multiple Event Tickets into T$
After the series has finished, your unused tickets will be exchanged for T$ that you can use to enter any tournament on GGPoker
  • 3. Pick Your Own WSOP Event
When the WSOP Online schedule on GGPoker was announced, the poker community was intrigued to see a new type of bracelet event announced! Three 'People's Choice' events were announced, with the formats and buy-ins yet to be announced.
  • 4. Best Stack Forward
Any player that makes it to the end of a Day 1 with a stack is allowed to take part in additional Day 1s if they want to, providing they have not exceeded the maximum number of re-entries.
However, if a player finishes multiple Day 1s with chips, only the highest chip stack will go to Day 2.
  • 5. Take Advantage of Bubble Protection
GGPoker's popular Bubble Protection is available throughout the WSOP Online. It's available for all non-phase events with buy-ins less than $999. This means that if you register before the start of play and go on to bubble the tournament, you'll receive your buy-in back.

Facts & Figures from the 2020 WSOP.com Bracelet Events

WSOP
WSOP

It was two weeks ago that the WSOP.com portion of the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Series ended. Throughout its 31 events, the series catered to 44,179 entrants and awarded $26,871,065 in prize money.

Not only was the series a success from a number’s standpoint, but it also provided a number of fun storylines. Who could forget Ryan "joeyisamush" Depaulo winning Event #12: $500 The Big 500 NLH while playing from his car in a Whole Foods parking lot, or the deep runs by Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth.

Toss in first-time bracelet winners, players capturing gold for either a second or third time, and six-figure prizes on the line, and there was no shortage of narratives each and every day.

MacDonald and Peters Back to Even

No luck with seven-deuce
No luck with seven-deuce

Alyssa MacDonald's early surge over David Peters has been countered by the American pro and the pair are almost back to even stacks. At her highest point, MacDonald sported an almost 2:1 lead over Peters by rivering two pair with {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} on a {q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds} board against Peters' {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}.

Not to be denied, Peters drew it nearly back to even in the two subsequent hands. In the biggest one of them, MacDonald opened to 38,400 and Peters called.

On a {2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, Peters checked, MacDonald bet 19,200, Peters check-raised to 67,200 and MacDonald called. The turn was the {j-Clubs} and Peters bet 168,960. MacDonald raised to 376,320 and Peters called. Both players checked the {4-Clubs} on the river.

Peters tabled the winner with {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for trip eights while MacDonald revealed a {7-Hearts}{2-Spades} for two pair.

MacDonald Extends Lead Over Peters

In the first level of the day, Alyssa MacDonald has been getting the better of David Peters. While the vast majority of pots have been very small, MacDonald was able to extract value with a set of fives on a {9-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} board. She raised the turn to 51,200 and bet 115,200 on the river, which Peters called off with {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

In the other bigger pot, MacDonald called a preflop raise to 28,160 with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and called bets of 14,080 on the {j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop and a pot-sized bet of 84,480 on the {2-Clubs} turn.

Peters gave up on the {q-Spades} river and showed down {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} to see MacDonald move up over 2M.
