Welcome to Day 2ab of the 2019 WSOP $10,000 Main Event!

2019 WSOP Main Event bracelet
2019 WSOP Main Event bracelet

The 2019 World Series of Poker Main Event continues today as the survivors from both Days 1a and 1b combine into one field. That means 2,838 players will return to action today.

The first two Day 1 flights of this year's WSOP Main Event produced the current chip leader overall, Bryan Campanello, despite Day 1c having more players in a single day than any other Main Event day in history and Days 1a and 1b combined. He has some elite competition chasing him down, however, as we can see from the collated chip counts.

Cards will be in the air at 11 a.m. local time with the plan of playing five more 120-minute levels. There will be a 20-minute break after every level for players to clear their heads.

New this year is late registration, which is open until the starts of Day 2ab and Day 2c. Therefore, it could very well be that those anticipating 15-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth's great entrance could see it today or tomorrow. Hellmuth darted off to Machu Picchu during the height of summer, and given his preference for late starts, he'll likely be among those opting for the latest of registrations.

The action began with a player in the hijack raising to 1,800, Martin Kabrhel was next to act and three-bet to 7,000, the button folded and Georgios Karakousis threw in 1,800 not noticing the raise to 8,000, and then after the dealer told him he put in the rest of the 8,000 to complete the call and the original raiser mucked his hand.

On the flop of {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} Karakousis checked to Kabrhel who bet out 7,000 and Karakousis check-raised to 17,000. Kabrhel made the call.

The {q-Clubs} fell on the turn and Karakousis fired out again, this time for 18,000 and Kabrel called.

The river was the {4-Diamonds}, Karakousis checked and Kabrel announced all-in for 130,200. Karakousis didn't take much time before making the call. Kabrel tabled {j-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Karakousis eliminated Kabrel when he tabled the {q-Spades}{10-Spades} for trip queens.

Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Justin Bonomo checked from early position on a completed board of {2-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{q-Spades}. Richard Thomas, on his left, bet 32,000 into about 40,000.

"I thought you said you were scared," Bonomo said with a smile.

"I'm scared shitless," Thomas replied frankly.

"You don't seem scared," Bonomo observed.

The poker titan went into the tank for about two minutes. He muttered something about a set of eights and then dropped in 32,000 eventually.

"On the head," Thomas said, flipping over {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Bonomo rapped the table and mucked.
