Welcome to Day 2 of Event #77: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

Joshua Turner
Joshua Turner

At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, the remaining 57 players will assemble in the Amazon Tan section at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino to do battle on Day 2 of Event #77: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed , each knowing that 29 players will reach the money for minimum of $2,249 and a $133,189 first prize awaits the winner.

Ron Carmona will lead the pack with a chip stack of 142,500, with Joshua Turner (139,000) and Zachary Gruneberg (137,000) his closest rivals.

Yesterday saw 193 players come together, 21 players less than last year’s event, to create a $521,100 prize pool with a host of WSOP bracelet holders scattered among the field, but many didn't find a bag at the end of the day, including Chris Ferguson, Ismael Bojang, Daniel Negreanu, David Bach, Benny Glaser, Phil Hui and James Obst.

Yaser Al-Keliddar (38,000), the defending champion, is just one of the names who will be returning today alongside other well-known players Mark Radoja (117,000), Ian Johns (79,500), Marco Johnson (64,500), Calvin Anderson (60,500) and the 2015 Main Event Champion Joe McKeehen who will be looking to double up as he returns with a short stack of 12,500.

Just like yesterday, ten 60-minute levels will be played today with a 15-minute break every two levels. There will be a 60-minute dinner break after Level 6 (≈ 8:30 p.m.) The limits will begin at 2,000/4,000 and with average stack at 53,611.

Joe McKeehen (from a previous event)

Former Main Event Champion Joe McKeehen has been eliminated. Coming into Day 2 with 12,500, around six big blinds, it was always going to be a tall order to spin his stack up, so it was not surprising when he hit the rail within the first 10 minutes of play.

Quads for O'Hara

Ian O'Hara
Ian O'Hara

Mark Radoja raised to 4,000 under the gun and Ian O'Hara upped it to 6,000 on the button, which Radoja called. On the {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, Radoja check-called a 2,000 continuation bet.

The turn paired the board with the {7-Diamonds} and Radoja check-called O'Hara's 4,000 barrel. The river was a {2-Spades}, pairing the board again and the action was check-called on the last street, with Radoja paying another 4,000 to get to showdown.

Ian O'Hara turned over {7-Clubs}{7-Spades} for a flopped set that improved to quads on the turn and Radoja sent his cards into the muck.

Dao Eliminates Anderson in Two Hands

Nível 12 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Calvin Anderson
Calvin Anderson

In a blind versus blind situation, Tu Dao raised from the small blind and Calvin Anderson called.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Anderson raised Dao's continuation bet, with the latter making the call. The turn was the {2-Clubs} and this time Dao check-called a bet from Anderson.

On the {a-Diamonds} river, Dao led out with a bet and Anderson called, with 2,000, chips left behind. Dao revealed {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a pair of aces on the river and Anderson mucked.

The hand after, Anderson was all in from the small blind for his last chips with {q-Spades}{4-Hearts} and was facing Dao who held {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}. The board brought {j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, bringing a pair of jacks for Dao to eliminate the winner of the 2018 $10,000 Razz Championship.

Dao Extends Chip Lead

Nível 12 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Tu Dao (in a previous event)
Tu Dao (in a previous event)

Tu Dao has been storming through the counts and has extended her chip lead by a huge margin. She just lost a pot at showdown versus Patrick Leonard on a {3-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} board losing 5,000 chips on the river to Leonard's two pair with {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. That pot has made little difference to the hefty stack Dao will come back to after the first break of the day though.

The Bubble Bursts

Nível 14 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
James Little (in a previous event)
James Little (in a previous event)

In what must surely be a contender for the fastest bubble ever, two players were eliminated in the same hand, on different tables, effectively sharing the bubble. It all happened so fast that there was no time to announce hand-for-hand and players didn't realize they had made the money until the floor announced it.

Sadly for James Little, he was one of those two and won't be taking home a share of the prize pool, as they were simultaneously eliminated in 31st and 30th places. Everyone else has secured themselves at least $4,571 for the mincash.

Bawadi Clings on at Expense of Vieira

Nível 14 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Joao Vieira (in a previous event)
Joao Vieira (in a previous event)

Jason Bawadi had around eight big blinds at the start of hand and opened to 8,000 blind on blind, versus Joao Vieira. Vieira defended and they saw a flop of {6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

Bawadi bet 4,000, Vieira raised, Bawadi three-bet, Vieira four-bet and Bawadi five-bet for 20,000, which Vieira called.

On the {8-Hearts} turn, Bawadi got the last 3,000 in and after Vieira called, they turned over {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} for the all-in player and {7-Spades}{8-Spades} for Vieira who had picked up two pair on the turn.

The {6-Spades} river counterfeit Vieira's two pair, giving Bawadi a better one and he doubled, whilst Vieira was down to two big blinds.

Just a couple of hands later, Vieira got the rest of it in but couldn't spin it up and busted in 27th place.

Mark Radoja Eliminated in 18th Place ($6,748)

Nível 16 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Mark Radoja
Mark Radoja

With very few chips left to his name, Mark Radoja got the last few in on a {10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades} board. Charles Tucker was committed to call almost anything and threw in the extra chips, with what turned out to be the best hand after the flop.

Charles Tucker: {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Mark Radoja: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The {10-Clubs} turn laid to rest Radoja's hopes of hitting a straight, now he was looking for a king, a queen or the case ten in order to win. The {7-Hearts} didn't help him and he finishes in 18th place.
