Players are heading on a 20 minute break. This represents the closing minutes of registration; currently the screens tell us that there are 990 runners in total.
Late registration is almost over with only a few minutes remaining in level eight. For the most part, players have stopped registering for this event unless your name is Phil Ivey. Sitting down with a stack of less than 20 big blinds, Ivey will look to spin up a stack in the last couple levels of the night.

Rainer Kempe, fresh from the final livestreamed table of the $600 PLO/NLHE Deepstack this afternoon (where he finished 4th for $65,482) has been eliminated from this event, too. This time, despite it being at the tail end of late registration, he does not have the option to flick in another $2,500 for a second shot at this particular bracelet as it's an old-school one-shot freezeout. His final hand, he was all in preflop for around 7,000 with , up against
. The board brought him a pair of tens on the turn, but unfortunately that made his opponent the nuts:

Tony Dunst opened to 1,700 in middle position and was called by the hijack and Kristen Bicknell in the small blind. The flop came and the action checked around to the
on the turn.
Bicknell led out for 3,000 and Dunst quickly folded. The hijack called and the landed on the river. Bicknell thought for a minute and then checked to her opponent who bet 2,000. Bicknell countered with a check-raise to 8,000 and her opponent sent his cards to the muck.

Level 8 has not been the most profitable for Eoghan O'Dea, the prior WSOP Main Event finalist hovering around the 20-odd thousand mark. He played a small pot vs. Patrick Serda that ended on the turn of a board when Serda fired a second bullet of 3,200 (he'd bet the flop, too when O'Dea checked to him). This time O'Dea check-folded.
A little later on, a mid-position player made it 1,800 preflop, the button and small blind O'Dea called, then the big blind moved all in for 16,900. "They all know I have a last-longer," the all-in player said, "How tight I'm playing." This may have been for the benefit of his last longer opponent who was sitting one table across and turned around at the sound of "all in." Nobody made the call - although one player (not in the hand) turned around and said, "Twenty bucks, I call."
"I would have paid you $100," was the reply, leading everyone to believe the last longer to be for considerably more than that.

More players receiving their own money back after playing to showdown were found on Table 473, when on a board of Kenneth Adams led out for 1,000, raised by an in-position opponent to 3,000. Adams flat called and checked the
on the river. His opponent threw in 4,000 and Adams quickly called, tabling
for the lower side of the one-card full house. Snap; his opponent held
, previously out-kicking Adams but now equalised with the pairing river ten.
Though Adams did not make much chip headway with this hand, he's very much his table chip leader with nearly 100,000.
