Benelli Gives a Little to Williams

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Preflop action folded to Andrea Benelli, and he raised it to 11,000 from the button. The player in the small blind folded, but Robert Williams chose to defend his big blind. After Williams check-called the 13,000 continuation bet from Benelli on the {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop, both players checked the {j-Hearts} turn. Williams then led out on the {6-Clubs} river with a bet of 52,000, which got an immediate reaction of uneasiness from Benelli. Benelli then counted his stack, re-checked his cards, and thought for a few more moments before he sent them to the muck.

Ivey Takes From Moorman Early

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Phil Ivey and Chris Moorman are seated next to each other on Day 2 and they were involved in an early pot.

On a board that read {j-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts} Ivey bet 30,000 into a pot of roughly the same size. Moorman thought for a moment and folded to give Ivey the pot.

Welcome to Day 2 of Event 37: $800 Deepstack No-Limit Hold’em! Today’s action will begin with 671 players out of an original field of 2,808 entries. It will undoubtedly be a manic day of action as the plan is to play all the way down to the final six. The money bubble will hit at some point in the early half of the day, as the top 422 players will cash.

Leading the field will be Jose Brito of Portugal who amassed an incredible stack of 776,000 as play ended last night. He will start Day 2 in good shape as he has more than 100,000 more than Danny Ghobrial who is second in chips with 671,500. Ben Gilbert (577,500), Toan Nguyen (555,500) and Bruce Rosenberg (535,000) round out the top five largest stacks. Also among the largest stacks to end the day was Jimmy D’Ambrosio, with 525,500 in chips.

Two of the biggest names in all of poker will return to compete today. Phil Ivey, who spent much of Day 1 short-stacked after a late in the day entry, will enter day Day 2 with a healthy stack of 260,000. And Phil Hellmuth, who will look to make another deep run in a large field No-Limit Hold’em event as he brings back 231,000 in chips.

Joining the Ivey, Hellmuth and the big stacks, are some other well known poker names such as Elio Fox (444,000), Kelly Minkin (289,000), Chris Moorman (269,500) and Jeremy Ausmus (159,500). All of these players and many more will be aiming to make a deep into the elite and big money stages of this tournament.

Play will restart at 12 p.m. local time at Level 16 with blinds at 2,500/5,000 and with a 5,000 big blind ante. Levels will remain at 40 minutes in length. There will be a 15-minute break after every three levels of play and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 24, the ninth level of play today.

Pokernews live updates team will be on hand to bring you all the fast-paced action as the field is trimmed all the way down until a final table.
