Heimiller Pairs Up

Nível 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Dan Heimiller
Dan Heimiller

Dan Heimiller limped from the hijack, and the button and both blinds came along. The flop came {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, and the action checked through all four players.

On the {5-Diamonds} turn, the blinds checked and Heimiller led out for 2,000, and got calls from the button and small blind. The river came the {3-Diamonds}, and the action checked to to the button, who fired for 5,500 chips. The big blind folded, and Heimiller took a minute before putting in the call.

"Good call," said the player on the button, as Heimiller showed {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for top pair. The two-time bracelet winner is now up to 55,000 chips.

Bergh Busts in Second Three-way All-In in a Row for Littlewood

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

A few hands after doubling with aces, Keith Littlewood won another giant pot after outflopping pocket queens with pocket jacks. Again, a short stack in the small blind was all in for just a few thousand chips, and it was the main pot that shipped the majority. Preflop, the short stack had moved in for 5,400, called by Joseph Bergh and Littlewood.

The flop: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{j-Clubs}. Now 50,000+ in both of the remaining active players' stacks went in via three bets - an initial 7,500 lead, raise from Littlewood, and three-bet all in; call. Bergh showed the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}, Littlewood the {j-}{j-} and the turn and river {3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} provided no help to the pocket queens.

Littlewood More than Doubles with Pocket Aces

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

A three-way preflop all-in awarded Keith Littlewood a large pot, as he picked up {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} just in time to get full value from a short stacked Dean Hughes taking the plunge with {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and another player with {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} behind him. The board ran out {9-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} without even too much of a sweat: the other two were drawing dead on the turn.

Enright Plays Both Blinds

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Barbara Enright
Barbara Enright

Barbara Enright played heads up pots from both the big and small blind in succession, winning the first and losing the second. Unfortunately for her, the first was a small pot, given up by the small blind on the turn of a {7-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts} board to her bet of 4,000, while the second was considerably larger.

Enright raised to 4,000 when it folded to her on the small blind; the big blind called. Enright proceeded to check, then snap-call the bets her opponent made on the flop ({3-Spades}{a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, 4,000) and turn ({2-Hearts}, 6,000). There was a very slightly longer pause between her check and call of the 10,000 her opponent threw in on the river ({10-Spades}). He showed her {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for two pair; she said, "River!" while tapping the table, but smiling all the while.

Flack Finds the Action

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Six-time WSOP bracelet winner Layne Flack is talking it up and mixing it up with his opponents, chipping up to 48,000 after winning consecutive pots.

The first pot saw Flack open to 1,200 in early position and get a call on the big blind. The flop came {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Flack fired a 1,700 continuation bet and got the fold.

Flack opened for 1,400 from under the gun on the very next hand, and got three-bet to 4300 by a player in middle position. The action folded back around to Flack, who four-bet and got the fold. Flack showed his opponent {9-}{9-}.

Two Main Event Champs, Same Table

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Tom McEvoy, 1983 WSOP Main Event champion, is seated at the same table as Joe Hachem, the 2005 Main Event champ. The chances of a pairing like this among a field of 3,300 players are unlikely, and as of the moment it's Hachem that stands the better chance of sticking around for awhile in this event.

McEvoy recently lost some ground, folding to an opponent that forced McEvoy to make a decision for all of his chips on a {3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop.

Weissman Makes the Most of Position

Nível 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Wendy Weissman just took down a four-way pot of over 14,000 to increase her stack to over 110,000. Preflop there was a mid-position raise to 1,400, called by Weissman and then both blinds. The quadruple check on the {a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop was followed by a bet on the {j-Spades} turn by the original raiser. Now no one felt like folding: all players put another 2,300 into the pot. The river brought the {8-Hearts} and there were three checks to Weissman, who bet 7,500. With little hesitation her opponents folded and she took the pot without showdown.
