Controversial Double Elimination

Nível 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

John Hesp and 2004 Main Event Champion Greg Raymer are both seated at Amazon Orange #514, where the floor was called over to mediate a controversial huge pot.

Three players went all-in preflop, and it was Paul Cavell's {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} up against {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. The board showed {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, but players at the table felt that a dealer mistake had been made and the {10-Spades} wasn't the correct turn card.

After several minutes of sorting out the situation, the floor ruled that the {10-Spades} and another burned card be shuffled back into the deck, and the turn and river were re-dealt. Those cards came out as the {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, and Cavell's aces held up.

"Never seen anything quite like that," Hesp said.

Cavell is sitting on a 124,400 stack after scooping the big pot, which left Raymer wishing he had played his hand instead of folding.

"I folded a [mediocre] hand that would have won," Raymer said. "You'd be asking me how many chips I was sitting on and it would be 170,000."

Raymer arrived late and just sat down, as this hand was just his sixth hand of the day so far. He joked that Cavell's stack now looked like "Fofty million."

Newman Gets Great Value From Trips

Nível 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

Three players invested 12,000 each on a {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop to see the {k-Hearts} come on the turn. Everyone checked through, and the {8-Spades} completed the board on the river.

Michael Newman bet 12,000 from the small blind, and a player in early position called. The remaining player next to act decided to call as well after a moment, and Newman tabled {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for trip sixes. Both of his opponents mucked.

"How is that good?" another player at the table asked Newman.

Duncan Pads His Impressive Stack

Nível 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

Scott Duncan, who hails from Kansas City, limped in from under the gun, and a middle position player raised to 1,700. The hijack called, as did Duncan.

Duncan checked the {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop over to the middle position player, who bet 2,100. The hijack folded, and Duncan called.

The {k-Diamonds} hit the turn, and Duncan checked again. His opponent fired 4,500, and Duncan made the call.

Both players checked the {8-Hearts} river, and were slightly reluctant to show.

"I got a seven," Duncan said before rolling over {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. His opponent mucked.

Eichendorf Straightens Out Buhler

Nível 4 : 300/600, 600 ante

Canada's Sean Eichendorf raised to 1,200 from early position, and was called by a player in the cutoff.

"Four thousand," Sun Prairie, Wisconsin's Matt Buhler said before tossing in a single 5k chip from the small blind. Both Eichendorf and the cutoff called.

Buhler bet 3,500 on the {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{a-Clubs} flop, and both of his opponents called.

The {j-Clubs} fell on the turn, and Buhler jammed for 15,000. Eichendorf called, and the cutoff said, "Wow!" then turned up his {q-Clubs} and said, "I gotta put one of you on the king of clubs," before folding.

Matt Buhler: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Sean Eichendorf: {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Eichendorf's turned straight still had to dodge the nut flush draw of Buhler, and the {k-Spades} river did just that, leaving Buhler telling his tablemates, "Good luck," before taking his leave.

Embleton Makes a Huge Hero Call

Nível 4 : 300/600, 600 ante

With 1983 Main Event champion Tom McEvoy looking on at the table, Daniel Embleton just chipped up to 87,000 after making an ambitious hero call.

Embleton and his opponent arrived at the river on a {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{j-Clubs} board, and Embleton faced a sizeable river bet on the very dynamic board. After a couple minutes of though Embleton made the call and showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, and in this case his hero call with second pair was the right decision.

Several other players at the table reacted with strong approval, and Embleton's stack is looking good after the gutsy call.

Friedman's Out a Buck

Nível 4 : 300/600, 600 ante
Adam Friedman with last year's $10,000 Dealer's Choice bracelet

"Didn't you win a bracelet last year?" a player at the table asked two-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Adam Friedman.

Friedman replied, "Yeah."

"Gimme a dollar so I can tip the waitress." A bemused Friedman reached into his pocket and tossed the gentleman a dollar, to the delight of his tablemates.

A few hands later, after an early position raise, Sal Busacca three-bet to 4,500 in middle position, and the benefactor of Friedman's generosity four-bet to 10,000 next to act. Action folded back to Busacca, who called.

Busacca bet 11,500 on the {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} flop, then snap-called when his opponent jammed for 30,000.

Opponent: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Sal Busacca: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

A cooler flop left Busacca's opponent drawing to a lone out, that wouldn't materialize on the {3-Clubs} turn or {6-Clubs} river.

"I got nobody to pick on me now! And I'm out the dollar!" Friedman said with a chuckle.

"You're welcome," Busacca told Friedman.
