John Hesp Eliminated from Main Event

Nível 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
John Hesp
John Hesp

Earlier, John Hesp lost out with pocket aces against the jacks of an opponent when a jack flopped giving his opponent a set. That lost the Brit 35,000 and a short while ago Hesp opened and Jim Schweitzer three-bet to 7,000.

Hesp called and the flop came ace-high and Hesp bet. Schweitzer raised and Hesp moved all in. Schweitzer called and showed {a-}{a-} for a flopped set, with Hesp turning over {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for top pair top kicker. There was no miracle runout and last year's final tablist and fan favourite was eliminated.

PokerNews caught up with Hesp as he patiently posed with several of his fans for selfies on the rail.

"[The reception] has been incredible," said Hesp. "Everything has just been so lovely and fun. I'm just so so grateful that these people are enjoying my style of play, and everything else in that regard.

"The game of poker should be fun; those couple of hands earlier weren't fun, but it happens. I'm a realist and I accept that to get to the final table, it's going to be happening the opposite way to other people. And it did to me today.

"Right now I need to go and chill out for five minutes. I've got some buddies who will be wanting to know what happened.

"Hopefully I'll be here for another year, if I live long enough(!) The adrenaline doesn't last long, but it's great to be here!!"

Reymond Takes One Out

Nível 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

William Reymond raised to 2,200 from the button and the player in the big blind three-bet to 6,600. Reymond looked at his opponent's stack and called.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, the small blind bet 9,000. Reymond raised to 20,000 without hesitating. The small blind player considered his options for a few seconds and then decided to go all-in for 53,600 in total. Reymond asked how much extra it was on top of his original raise. The dealer took out the 20,000 Reymond had already raised to and confirmed it was 33,600 extra. Reymond counted out calling chips and how much he would still have behind. Reymond called.

Small Blind: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
William Reymond: {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Reymond was sitting on the straight draw in hopes to eliminate his opponent. The small blind held a pair of sevens in his hands.

The rest of the board was completed with the {9-Spades} on the turn and the {6-Clubs} on the river for Reymond to river a straight to send his opponent to the rail.

Or Arusi is also seated at this table and after having started off not too great, apparently, he eliminated a few players and even cracked Reymond's aces to now be at the top of the chip counts.

Ice Cream for Everyone

Randall Emmett's showgirls arrived in the Amazon room and Emmett took over the microphone briefly to wish all players good luck, then announcing that he'd bought 1,500 ice cream for all players on Day 2a/b. The girls walked through all the sections to distribute them and the poker action barely stopped while everyone got some refreshment and extra motivation for the upcoming hours.

Papazyan Wins Big Clash With Van Zadelhoff

Nível 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Art Papazyan
Art Papazyan

Art Papazyan raised to 2,000 from early position and Steven van Zadelhoff three-bet to 6,800 from late position. Everybody else got out of the way, but the raising wasn't done when it was Papazyan's turn again. Papazyan put in a four-bet worth 17,200 and Van Zadelhoff one-upped him again. Van Zadelhoff made a bet of 34,800 and Papazyan called this time.

The flop was {2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Papazyan checked to Van Zadelhoff. The Dutchman bet 17,500 and Papazyan called.

The turn was the {9-Spades} and both players checked to see the {Q-Spades} come down.

Papazyan checked to Van Zadelhoff who went in the tank. After a while he also checked and Papazyan showed {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} for the winning hand.
